MR560648 defenition??? help

ok so tried to read my rom with ecuflash and suprise, suprise it's telling me something about "could not recognise this ROM image using any of the current definitions"
can anyone tell me what i need to do to get this sorted.. all i want to do is flash a ralliart map to my ecu and tune from there.

i read somewhere that the "MR560648" number is really no use to find the defenition and you need the ROM number.. if so how do i find out what the ROM number is?

can anyone help me step by step to get this thing up and running?

ps im running this ecu in my 98evo 5

thanks

You need to work out the ROMID, typically this is found at 0xF52.

In ecuflash do this:
1) Open ROM
2) Select "use Wizard"
3) Select defined from scratch
4) Keep clicking next until you can enter 2 fields (Address and Length)
5) enter F52 for the address and 4 for the length
6) Report back here with the "Identifier", should be something like 88580014 or 96940011 or 88570008 etc etc etc...

Cheers

i used the 96940011 ROM before i read this message but havent started to flash yet... how can i go back and check to see if this was correct?

i tried deleting the ROM that i saved hoping that it would reset everything and revert back to not identifing the ROM and take me thru the wizard again. but it didnt work

Mate, usually when you'd inherit/create new romid (aka xml), the new romid will store in your Ecuflash\rommedata folder. There should be only 1 xml file. Go ahead and delete that xml and re-open Ecuflash. Open that ROM, you'll get the wizard again.

no you shouldn't just change the ROMID in the rom!

It's probably not wise to use other ROMID's on your car!

Best bet is to copy the timing and fuel maps from the RA one over your stock one.

Just keep a backup of your stock rom in a couple of different places

Cheers

its easy, just use ecuflash.. select the whole map and copy/paste it over the current maps.

really sounds like you need to read the "How to Tune an Evo" Thread thou
