That is exactly what I thought. I switched BOTH valet features, "enable valet mode" and "enble auto valet on fresh ignition," from 1 to 0. Then, my car wouldn't even start...

smog,

try setting the valet rpm to something high that you never see, like 8k or 9k or whatever. I've had this issue a couple times for odd reasons.

I have valet mod enabled and auto valet disabled, and it works. try raising the valet rpm limit to 7500 as a temporary work around

Bryan and Andre,
I raised the rpm limit to 8100 to get around the problem. I just don't like the idea of driving around in "valet mode" on a patch that I'm not too familiar with. I guess I can still make sure I'm in normal mode, but it something happens, like a stall, I won't have any delay to get moving....
Thanks

I have the same problem with the valet. On one car it works flawlessly. On another car you turn it off and it still wont let the car start, so i raised the limit to 8000rpm. Its funny how one car is fine, but another has problems. I used the same hex file and just pasted all the settings over and it still wont work on the one car. Everything else works though. It wouldnt disable on my car at first and I tried a bunch of combinations of settings and then it started working right.

Tephra, is the entire 4x row in the MUT table available for custom data? I ask because I'm already using 40 and 41 for corrected 2-byte load.

Easy way around this problem with the valet mode.

Get in the car, turn ignition on, and start the car.

Then edit the rom to switch the fresh ignition off

Then flash the car when running (cuts the engine).

When it has finished flashing the car will still start, as the valet mode was disabled when you flashed it.

smoggy - you can just disable autovalet by setting it to 0.

i will check the code with regards to getting locked into valet mode (ie valet mode disabled in tephramods, but cant start car)

yeah 0x40-0x46 should be ok to use...

if you are still looking for input...? on 94170015 - V5.8 I did not see the intercooler sprayer light when I changed maps. Wait a minute, maybe the sprayer light doesn't light with the JOT switch.The maps did change, at least it looked like it, based on the afr swing.

A very quick use of the nlts worked (traffic), knock cel worked :-( . I don't do the valet thing at all.

The sprayer button has another function on my car. I don't use the intercooler sprayer, the sprayer is gone.

Hey Guys,

I am going to release 5.9 soon, which specifically tries to fix (once and for all) the valet mode lockout.

ie somehow valet mode gets enabled, and you have both valet mode options disabled - basically means you get stuck in valet mode.

Anyway's if anyone has any other bugs to report or minor features they want added please let me know now so I can do it for 5.9...

Oh I will also automatically add 2byte+1byte load MUT's to 5.9 so people don't have to edit MUT tables...

Cheers
Dave

To get lean spool enable/diable and to remove my EGR trouble codes and in 5.8, can I add the following tables? I copied straight out of my old 94170008 rom.

<table name="ECU Periphery0" category="Misc" address="faa" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>

<table name="ECU Periphery2" category="Misc" address="fca" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>

<table name="Lean Spool Enable " address="1681" type="1D" level="1" scaling="uint8"/>

<table name="Lean Spool Disable" address="1685" type="1D" level="1" scaling="uint8"/>

56DA is the value for table Periphery0
0DDF is the value for table Periphery2
48 is the value for the lean spool enable
48 is the value for the lean spool disable

Worth a try? I just worry that the 0008 and the 0015 roms are too different...

Anyone?

The way that 99.99999% of people on here do it is by changing the RPM's.

Some people just set them both to 2500, I prefer 1500 and 1531 - just to be sure the ECU is doing the right thing

The way I had it listed in my post (in your quote) turned out perfectly for me and my 94170015 rom.
