Jack or Tephra next question. I have installed the map switching harness and I plan on getting an E85 tune this weekend. My question is which map do I make my normal petrol map and which one for E85? What do I do with all the other maps and options if I'm not going to use them all? I followed the video to the point where he's opening the bin file with the correct values but when I open the bin file all I get is the normal ROM. Is this because I'm using the 88590015 on the 88590013?

Just figured out how to get the bin file to work. Still have the question about which map is "normal" and which is E85.

I would have the most aggressive map as your altmap.

there shouldn't be more than 1 altmap...

ie there should be :
Alternate Hi Oct Fuel Map
Alternate Low Oct Fuel Map
Alternate Hi Oct Timing Map 123
Alternate Low Oct Timing Map 123

Which mirror your regular fuel/timing maps...

Which is a good place for me to re-ask my question: Is it possible to use the altmap for a fuel-economy map (specifically, one that does "open loop cruise"). I'd think that the alt maps would have to include an alternate set of open loop maps, yes?

If it's not supported now, would it be difficult to add?

Thanks in advance for the response!

^ just set the openloop tables how you want. Leave 14.7 in the non-eco map.

Thats how I have, 14.7 in my track map 15.5 in my cruise/street map, lowered openloop map.

works fine - no dramas.

I don't think I will be including altmap-openloop tables - not unless there is a compelling reason todoso...

It'd be smarter to do something like MrFred's Wideband Closed loop patch which allows you to edit the fuel maps to be actual target AFR's and it replaces your narrowband O2 sensor signal with your wideband signal.

Agreed, sounds like the better way to go, but (sheepishly) I don't yet have a wideband O2 sensor. I'm still trying to figure out which one's best (from the prior posts in this thread and others) and whether I can keep it installed and active all the time (it sounds like there are durability issues that argue against it).

Do those of you with WBO2s keep yours connected and active all the time? Ever have to replace the sensor?

WBs are a permanent install. The sensors will die if they are exposed to high exhaust temps (keep at least 18" from the turbo outlet)and exposed to leaded gas (some racegas). Most sensor will be good for about 2 years at least in normal use. You can replace JUST the sensor when they die, just like your stock O2 sensor.

I went to test the 90550001 rom

1) loaded the unmodified 90550001 rom into my car, started up good.
2) loaded the latest modified 90550001 rom into my car, car starts very briefly and 0.5 seconds later cuts off and stops.

I haven't changed any of the defaults, should I change something? or connect something up? I have a clutch wire connected fine.

Bet you didn't put your immobilizer code into the Tephra ROM.
