disable P0300 test
If you add the "Periphery Bits" code to your XML (see post #1), you will see one of the bit tables labeled as "Periphery 2". Basically, you use the increment/decrement buttons ( [] ) to toggle all of these to "0" except for Bit 0 (leave that one as "1"). That will take care of it.
As for whether you leave the sensor plugged in or not is up to you. It's probably better to leave it plugged in than to have loose pigtails dangling.

This is just an update to let everyone know that after 6 weeks I still have absolutley no issues with disabling the P0300 code. I used to get the ses all the time for this error.

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. I hate the generic "something is wrong but I don't know really what." of the P0300. Which is why I'd like to kill it, but not necessarily at the expense of the "I know what happened and it was in cylinder 1,2,3,4" of the 301, 302, 303, 304 codes.
Course, now that I think about it, those codes could really only tell you if a plug or coil is bad.....possibly injector....I'd sure feel a power it if I lost a cylinder or two, so maybe I don't need those anyway. hmmmmmm......time to reconsider this.
A little confused here. I'm running ROM# 96940011 for an '05 VIII. I've already added the 1.35 periphery bit code to my ROM, and edited bits 4 and 5 in Periphery2 accordingly. My question is do I also follow the instructions below or am I done and ready to reflash?
"If you are using an older version of ECUFlash, then copy the entry shown below to your XML file (save the xml file, and then relaunch ECUFlash):
<table name="ECU Periphery2" category="ECUPeriphery" address="fca" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>
When you open the Periphery2 entry, you should see: EFDF. Change it to EFCF by typing "0xEFCF" (without the quotes) and then pressing return. If you see something other than EFDF, post it up here, and I'll give you the correct value to enter."

How do I open my ROM to fix this? I've had the p0300 for years and I run with an ODBII reader in my car just so I can reset it as I drive.
I have a 03 evo8 and EcuFlash 1.4... I just don't know how to open the xml ROM to modify that part of it.
