Coil on Plug - std ecu

I've just started running a COP setup with the stock ignition on my evo6 (7ecu).

but straight away have noticed that the car feels a bit slower, I'm still waiting to hear back of the manufacturer (sumopower) regarding whether this is direct plug and play or I have to alter dwell time or something.

whats your experiences with COP setups on stock ecu/ignition?

cheers guys

Our non-cdi cop system makes 8-10whp on very lightly modded evo's. We've had some customers with Fp Reds with supporting mods make 18whp with this setup.

Is it just plug and play or do you have to tune after installing?

I am running the BBK Full at 28psi peak. I'll pm you regarding my setup.

^ALL of our systems are PnP. However with a re tune you can fully utilize the extra Ignition energy. We've had some tuners that have noted less knock count after adding the Ignition system.

SparkTech, shorter dwell and more advanced timing? As a guide, how much are we talking about changes in dwell angles? Not something I've ever played with, what is typical, what is ideal, do you shorten it until it misfires and then add a bit? Whilst we've got your attention, what would be the ideal plug gap, is it widest possible gapped down a bit? Forgive me if these have been covered elsewhere or if my questions are too general.

None of our systems require ANY Dwell changes. Depending on tuner and engine combo you can certainly benefit from advanced timing. Plug gaps again depend on tune and combo. We typically see .025 for the non-cdi systems and up to .031 on the cdi based systems.

are these coils likely to alter my timing slightly as the car does feel slower?

is it just a case of advancing the timing further to get her back to as it was or do I need to alter the dwell time?

sponners...I can only speak of my product. Our systems are 100% PnP.

I believe in coil on plug with m&w box.

Others I would question as I have not had a chance to test them. But I'll confirm the increase in gap. I ran my bpr7es to .032 of gap with absolutely no misfire on pump gas.
