I suppose I could have. The inspector is my friend so that wasn't a worry.

Man, I just sent you a PM. I just moved to Corning from OK (which doesn't have this kind of inpsection issue), and I was afraid I was about to have to spend either a lot of time or money to put my car back to stock just so I can get it inspected and registered in NY. This is exactly what I have been looking for!

wasn't able to get scantech to work with my 1.3u and 2.0 openport cables though so i still don't know what the stock obdII tests are; have to get my car smogged in ca soon
I had this problem too and this helped. After I did everything to the T my blobbits table shows this:

No match? What could be the cause?

i have a local on 94170015 with this patch. I am still getting a CEL for p0140 - Rear O2 heater. Owner has the o2 sensor in, i figure it is broken or dead. Do i still need to do the heater patch for this? Is one available for this rom?

The readiness/completion patch is purely for the OBD-II side of it (emissions testing); you'll still throw CELs for failing tests.

So, short version: yes, you need the heater patch.

Thanks for the reply. Since i can't find the heater patch for 9417 do you, or anyone, know the periphery bit for the rear heater or rear o2 in general? I have the OBD patch so i don't care if the ecu is looking for rear o2 anymore.

MR Turco, for shame. You even posted in that thread. It's not a periphery bit, it's a patch:

did you go into scantech and change the settings required to make the tactrix cable work? I know it works for the 1.3 - not sure on the 2.0. But you have to go into the settings and set it up to get it to connect properly....(not sure if you've done this?)

Supported Tests:

EGR
Oxygen Heater Sensor
Oxygen Sensor
EVAP
Catalyst
