Does your knock threshold match in both roms? is knock multiplier and single/triple gain the same? Other than that, there isn't anything I've found that would affect knock....cept the obvious timing. Maybe if load changed or fuel is richer/leaner for some reason, can't think why it would be though.

Mine used to flash under these conditions but it was due to my synapse bov fluttering. I adjusted the preload to help with the fluttering.

I have a greddy type S with the single spring mod?? could that do it? I dont think the knock values are any different between the two roms....

i think it may be that my fuel and timing maps aren't as smooth transitioning from load cells <100 to load cells > 100 (under boost)... with the load cells prior to 100 (boost) mostly stock... if anyone is willing to take a look at my maps i would appreciate it.. as this issue has been ongoing with no end..

The first post of this thread has the one you're after - 88590715 - as well as most of the other ROM's.

If that isn't working go here:

http://evoecu.logic.net/mirror/svn/

It's got plenty of other stuff worth looking at in there too.

Don't forget to donate if you find the ROM worthwhile

I've got the same problem but converted from 93660005 to 96260709. I've searched with IDA and cannot find a knock multiplier in 93660005 to compare to. Anyway, I'll let you know if I work anything out. Retarding timing didn't help.

Or... the asynchronous acceleration TPS table could be different (someone else's suggestion). Though I don't have it defined in any xml's for any ROM's that I have to start from. Anyone have this defined?

I think 96530706 is the one to go for.

Just to confuse things (sorry!) I believe that most who originally had 93660005 are now running 96260709 (which is by donation only), including myself. However, I'm trying to sort out some knock issues with it so will probably try 96530709 and see if it proves whether the problem is real or phantom.
Apparently 96260709 is a much closer replacement for 93660005. I have read that someone did get 96530709 working on their JDM so it's worth a try.

I have a JDM 8 MR which was 96260007 stock. I ran 96530706 for a while and then gave tephra some money for 96260709, mostly for the differences in the emissions stuff. I'm in Australia and don't need a lot of the junk that's in the US roms.
Both versions ran fine for me, but there were a lot more tables I had to set up (or copy across) in the 9653 rom.

Which tables did you copy across? Of course fuel and timing, but I also found that the boost error correction, load offset and desired engine loads were different. Copying these extras across seemed to reduce the frequency of knocking in my car, but wondered if there were more that I missed.

Do you have NLTS working with either of those V7 rom's? Myself and d1kid edited the 96260709 rom to get it working as I have a 3 plug ECU. Just curious.

Ok thanks for the help
I have the right rom when I open it up it says

Unknown rom image and gives me 3 options
defined from scratch
Copied from the definition
inherited from

Which one do I select?

Then it has rom identifier
address(in hex) f52
Length in bytes 4

Do I changed this info or leave it?
Then it shows rom info.

What do I do from here?

Does anyone know if there is a write up showing how to use v7.
Thanks

You'll need to put "TephraMOD-88590715-v7.xml" in the xml folder within the EcuFlash folder.

Go here:

http://evoecu.logic.net/mirror/svn/x...s/TephraModV7/

or here:

http://www.evoscan.com/roms/mitsubishi/
(I've found xml's with more definitions here, but of course nothing's ever guaranteed to be correct either way you go.)

Then it should all come up just fine in EcuFlash.

I was asked to write a document for setting up V7 after I did it for the first (and only) time a while back. Maybe I should get round to it! Yours will be easier than mine though, as I had to change to a rom based on another version of the 8.

For a start, make sure that all of the tables in your stock rom match those in the V7 rom. If they don't, then copy them across (especially the immobiliser code).

Then go to the first page of this thread and download the big maps editor. It's an excel spreadsheet I think you'll need to use as at least for the Evo 8 V7's, the fuel and timing maps are bigger than on the stock roms.

Question regarding Dual Map Tephra v7 . I have it set to use the gas pedal to switch between maps.

Does this affect bleeding the ACD ? Example, if I hold the acceleration pedal down the car will switch to another map with the CEL flashing, but will it still turn on or prime the ACD pump ?

I'm having this same problem, except I had it professionally tuned. Any input would be appreciated. I have launch maps on as well

An interesting read for fellow stock ecu tuners/tephra users....

I figure I post this here since it may save someone the future headache...
