Help with CEL< no cell in ECU

Ok, so I've been having some issues with the car and it hasn't thrown a CEL so I checked by unplugging the maf to make it throw a code and it is not.... Is there anyway to fix this by readding the CEL codes to the ecu? I'm assuming the previous owner must have had them erased. I purchased the car in early april this year. Just really getting around to checking everything good now. Please let me know what I can do.

Pull to ROM image using Ecuflash, it sounds to me because he has the EGR removed that he has dissabled the perphery bits, once you pull the ROM compare the Perphery bits to a stock ROM of the same ROM id and change to either "0" or "1" to match the stock ROM. Also it it is a Tephra ROM disable the "Non continuous monitor" tables to the stock ROM address. At that point you will be able to throw and pull codes from the ROM.

Then I would guess that either you have no codes present, or it is a failure with you OBD2 port or reader. Are you trying to pull the codes with EvoScan? If so what version are you running? I know that some versions have a bug when attempting to pull codes, you actually have to set the Ecu type as MUTII instead of MUT III or OBD2 at the selection box at the bottom on EvoScan.

The stock ROM doesn't have the forced pass code written in it. You should be able to read with the stock ROM without any issues unless you have a mechanical issue with the port.

I had a similar issue once. My cel light was on but evoscan nor handheld showed any dtc codes. I eventually hit the clear codes button in evoscan even though it didn't show any codes. Light went away and car had ran fine ever since. Been about 4 months and 2k miles. Would have been nice to figure it out but I'm over it. Good luck with yours though.

Yeah, only reason I noticed was I left the maf unplugged and it normally throws a code unless its changed in the ecu. Car ran like crap but no light. plugged it back in & car ran fine.. Guess the Codes are just removed from the ecu I put a stock flash for the obd2 codes and still nothing... when i turn the car on the light comes on like its suppose to so the led still works... just strange.
