Boost control correction woes

Hey All,

Need some help sorting out my boost control issues. I feel like something is scaled incorrectly, but I could just be crazy.

Here are my boost tables.

Here is my latest log. It doesn't always correct this much, but it's always doing some downward correction and I don't understand.

Mostly stock car, here are my mods, though.

Apexi drop-in
GrimmSpeed 3-port
Walbro 255
10.5 turbine housing
Turbosmart 14psi actuator - EDIT!

I know those shouldn't mess with it, but I'm sure someone will ask my mods.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Its your BDE PSI map.

I do not ramp up like that. I have my pk boost from 1500 to when I start tapering off.

You hit 1 psi at 2100 and are targeting 0 psi, so the ECU is pulling WGDC. At 2300 you are at 3 psi, but only targeting around 2. With max upwards correction zeroed out, there is no harm in setting max boost all the way down low. You just need to make sure your WGDC is dialed in correctly with correction off before doing this.

Set everything below peak boost the same psi and try again.

Irrelevant side note: Might want to slightly richen up early spool too.

Will do. It was cooler this morning and leaned back out.... I haven't even gotten to figuring that all out, yet!

I hadn't changed that yet from the response you sent me this morning. I'll go give it a whirl.

Even if WGDC speed delay/correction is set to 1 and the target load matches what the ECU sees with Zero correction its never as good as no correction.

Turn it off and tune without feedback on, way less of a headache.

Hi John,

Thanks for your feedback, too. I've been messing with the tune for the past couple months. The inconsistency in weather has been driving me crazy! I was trying to get the correction in to keep it stead so I could see the results from my tuning.

lol

Aggie,
You do already have a solid boost curve with correction turned off, right? I was under the impression you are just trying to get correction working properly on top of a good wgdc map. If not, get that done 1st. When the weather changes, try to make the adjustment in the iat compensation map.

3rd gear is pretty good, still working on turning my other gears up a bit. I was going to attempt to use the correction as a tool, but it seems like that only worked out in my head, haha.

I'll keep playing. I turned it off and my curve is pretty good. At little wobbly, but I'll fix it.

Yeah starting out you rough with it off until its about right and then use the correction to keep it stable regardless of temp. Once you are more familiar with it you never worry about turning correction off. If you drive you car in different temps it should drive basically the same so you see those opportunities where it isn't to fine tune the correction. Pain in the rear yes, but once you get the hang of it its pretty obvious what has happened.
