HELP: opening .Bin file in ECUFlash
HELP: opening .Bin file in ECUFlash
I'm trying to get past step one of opening my ECU file I download from my Car.
PC Windows 10
2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution USDM
This is my first time trying to look at my ECU. I recently bought a Tactrix 2.0 cable, downloaded ECUFlash, downloaded Hex editor.
I downloaded a copy of my ECU straight from my Car and saved it as a .BIN file but I can't read it at all. From what I read on different Forums I need the correct definitions files. I download all the XML files that came with ECUFlash and I also downloaded all the Tephlora V7 Files and put them in the same romdata - evo folder. Below is the error screen I get when trying to open the ECU file, also below is what I see in hex editor, and I attached my ECU file. Can someone tell me my ROM ID? Can someone help me open my file in ECUFlash?

94172715 was what I got from your shared .bin, if I got the process right...
it is the attached file without v7 in the file name.
try the file with v7 with the 9417 xmls from the v7 threads.
hope this helps...

I was able to open the ROMs you attached but I think because I have those related XML files (EVOM-94170015 and EVOM.V7-94170715).
Allan the ROM ID does help a bunch Thank you! I do not have the 94172715 XML definitions file, Which I assume is why I cannot open it. Can you send me a copy of that XML file?

in the read.bin file you sent, i just edited the xml ID so you can use the stock 9417 xml you downloaded with Ecuflash with the EvoM.bin AND Tephrav7 xml with the EvoMv7.bin.
there's no need to make a 94172715 xml anymore.
those two files are identical to the read.bin you sent, except for two or four bits of code identifying the ID.
the 9417v7 xml is not as comprehensive as the 9653v7 xml, if you'll be tuning heavily...

Sweet thanks for your help.
This is just for the thread: I got this info from someone I was messaging. Here are some more details and steps if I did want to use the original file:
The ID of the ROM does not exist in the stock ROM, nor in the tephra mod. (Because the 3rd byte of your rom is '27' not '07'.)
Someone who previously tuned the car wrote '27' into the internal ID. So no one else can create a definition that completely corresponds to someone who previously tuned the ROM.
However, since the 3rd byte is '27', someone who tuned the ROM before probably did a tune based on tephra mod v7.
So, as AllanL wrote, changing 0xf54 from '27' to '07' is the easiest way to open it your rom by the ecuflash.
If you want to open your ROM with ecuflash without changing 0xf54 from '27' to '07', copy TephraMOD-94170715-v7.xml in your folder and name it TephraMOD-94172715-v7.xml. Open the contents by a text editor and changing the contents of the internalidhex tag from '94170715' to '94172715'.
