My timing isn't "that high" for 91 octane. Many owners run this timing. My first maps I ran 8-9* at 7000rpm and I still had knock everyday. With the work I've put in the map smoothing it and working timing.... now I can run 10-11*. This include working the fuel map and boost as well.
At this point, adding 1* anywhere in the WOT part of the map starts to randomly knock.
I can assure you that my knock light comes on about once a week. The car is knock free. One thing I had to do to make the car happy was holding 5* at higher RPM than before. After 5500, the car is more timing hungry (VE / boost are dropping).

I think it's a little inflated: 400 out of your VII 10.5 turbo... (which i think is VIII equivalent)
yes its the 8 equivalent with a 10.5 hotside. I thought it was inflated myself. Until I verified the Hertz, duty cycle, and had Tom @ TSComptuned verify it. I can also repeat my results time and time again. Even the 8 turbos with the 10.5 hotsides have seen way over 400 WHP. So in theory it is possible.

BTW I also think(so does Tom) my "rated" 93 octane japanese fuel is significantly higher than the 93 in the states.

Good job, that's some very nice numbers. Along with the good octane rating you have some serious bolt ons like the rev3 manifold which probably help a lot.

IDK for sure but I think you might be running a little too much boost for your mods. Get some breathing mods like an intake, exhaust, FMIC, and LICP and I think you're engine will be a lot happier at 25psi. Until then, try dropping a few psi to maybe 20-22 and then see if it will take more timing.

Edit: One other thing I suggest is rescaling your maps. You don't need to go out to 500 load. At 25 psi you would be fine using 300 or 320 as your max load. That will give you more resolution in the areas where you're actually tuning.

Ditto! Look through some of the posted maps here to get a better idea of what loads you should be using. 500 load is definitely not needed for your setup. Whats the max load you see currently?

Also your RPM points could be tweaked as well. They may work but you will see most guys use 250-500rpm intervals.

looking at your map some more... Your timing definitely needs work. You should see a steady progression not just along the load axis, but also going down the RPM axis. Timing should be steadily increasing as your RPMs increase.

Both maps aren't good. I don't think that your car doesn't like timing enough to end up with that map. And my god your friend is tuner and he ended up with these maps??!

no need to alter the rpm/load break point specially load, why are you using the alternate map ? are you using map switch ?
the timing maps looks weird...prone to knock easily.

hahaha no no the maps are mine, he's going to tune the car but before I take it to him I'm getting my self familiar with ECUFlash and tephra until then.

Im telling you my car is extremely sensitive in terms of knock. air fuel is good...

X2, with the first map I thought it was on 87 pump.
I'm sure we'll help you with this car you won't believe the difference.

Unless you are running the tephra rom for 94170015 you will be logging the incorrect load variable, 1 byte is only accurate for the above ROM, other than that you need to log 2 byte load temp and baro corrected for your specific ROM.
