Damn, I think you could have at least 15ft/lbs hiding in the afr...but it carries tq very well.

 

The 24 psi pull there has Megan o2. The 20 has Muse dump.

 

once I replace my intercooler I will start getting more agressive with the afr. 11.5 -6 will be my goal.

 

just for reference with a big spike i believe robert made something like 450/400 with this on a 2.3L with fp5r's. probably reached the absolute choke limit with the 2.3 eating about air faster that the turbo could push it.

so i wouldnt be surprised to see another 15whp with a new IC either.

That's pretty impressive for this little rebuild. Thanks for sharing. This could be the budget upgrade for autocrossers and incrementally upgrading road racers. I just may have to try one of these next, as my car's being tuned next week for maxed out on E85 on the 9.8 VIII turbo.

 

I think this is brilliant for autocross. Can't wait for a little more tq! Building this turbo with a 9.8 and external dump would be an interesting combo.

Can you get this with a 9.8? I assume it would be a IX turbo with 9.8?

 

As far as I know fp only upgrades 9 turbos. Also from what I read this turbo was a compressor wheel designed around the flow of the exhaust wheel/hot side, so I bet it would cause some weird results with a 9.8 hot side

 

They're interchangeable . When you buy this turbo it comes sans hotside AFAIK. It will choke .. sooner .. would def need the external dump for that . Although in the end it may not have anysooner peak tq. For that I name it interesting to ponder ... Lol

 

I ordered the JMFab intercooler, I paid under 800 for this unit shippped! I am so rediculously excited to have a garrett 3.8 core too. This thing better unlock 10000000000 hp or else!

 

Just checked this mornin for anyone interested, 1000 cc pte @ 20.7 psi 11.5 afr 7000 rpm = 65% idc. Lower than I thought !

 

Intercooler is here, too bad one of the bars has a nice big dent in it...

 

depending on how bad the dent is return it. is the box damaged where the dent area was on the fmic?

 

Definitley not from shipping, they bandaged that baby up good from jm fab. Egg carton foam etc.. more like the core was assembled damaged. The box is immaculate.. honestly its a wave in the bottom plate.. not creased but it def won't hurt performance. Just rubs me a little wrong...

I'm gonna install and tune asap ..

Maybe I'm being to critical and jumping to conclusions but I expected this to be mint
