I don't know if I'll do kill mode on stock block... maybe for a couple of pulls just to demonstrate. But I'd need upgraded fuel to really take advantage of what this turbo can do.

Do you have a link to your low/high voltage switch for Walbro 450? I heard Spoolin Up might make a version of it...

I want to fix the somewhat lazy spool. It should be spooling faster than it does. I am thinking the WGA arm needs more preload (I did 4 half-turns.)

Pretty sure that's already more pre-load that I have. Mine is pre-loaded just enough to not crack open under boost, that way the ECU can downward correct to a safe level if needed.

Is the preset preload from MAP not good ebough or does it cause lazier spool?

MAP, for some stupid reason, uses an 18 psi spring in the WGA. And little preload. I switched to 23 psi spring and a decent bit of preload. The car does feel great though, it has a broad powerband and spools quick enough for my tastes.

Also, I believe my tuner (Tom) has delayed the torque hit so it could spool even quicker if I asked him to set it. I might try that too, as long as it's not dangerous.

Finally, my new fuel pump arrived today so I will mod it and throw it in this weekend. If Tom has time, I will do a bit more retuning and go for 480 whp on it. Then I'll post up the results. So next week I'll also be looking at going to Road Race after work and having the car dynoed there so I can also have dyno numbers for those Virtual Dyno skeptics.

Got it thanks man. I switched to the 23psi spring setup before I installed the turbo. I might try a little more preload though. I did not adjust it at all but I might try a full turn to see what kind of difference it makes.

Undo their preload, no idea what they really set it at. Do 5-6 half turns to start of preload. Maybe check their preload and get back to me? Whatever they set it to is NOT ideal though IMO.

Been looking at the ef3 for a while. These results may consider the 2.5 now also!

You have to consider that some people may not want to run more than 23psi, or at the very least they prefer to start their tuning process at a lower boost level. As a manufacturer we would rather have our customers start small and work their way up rather than blame us for forcing them to run 23psi lol.

I understand that, but let's be realistic: this turbo doesn't even come alive unless you run 25+ PSI. I think it might be 1 in 10 customers who run this turbo below 25 psi.

Also, FYI disclaimer: the previous virtual dyno pull I posted was with ZERO preload. I don't know how, but apparently it wasn't preloaded at all (I might have changed it and forgot), so the spool should be seen as a worst case scenario! I have added 3 half turns of preload and it is spooling significantly better. I will post up VD results with the 3 half turns and then try 6 half turns to compare.
