Load will occasionally be weird like that on the stock ECU. As long as timing doesn't go all over the place and AFR stays good, it's nothing to worry about. It's more a datalogging issue I think. May car will occasionally do that also. Go from 350+ load to 5 to 4-6 data points..

At first, I tought my MAF was dying. Then I noticed that it happens during spoolup between 3000 to 4500 rpms.
So, I turned down the boost to stay just under 30 psi and voila! Load stays at 350. My best guess is it is the surge hitting these 71HTA and antisurge cover circulates air my engine can't consume and MAF stops reading fresh air coming in.

Surge shows up more like a zig zag on a data log.

Why are you wasting your time tuning with a MAF?

It's not really that simple, CHP pops hoods and they do these evil AF mobile Smog checkpoints. Like a DUI checkpoint but for smog. You really do have to jump through hoops to fly under the radar here. I think our MAF is good to ~500 WHP (maybe more).

California smog sucks. Always gotta be alert, and pray you dont get state ref'd.

Don, did you run those 34 psi logs thru Virtual Dyno? Wondering what kinda torque you were making there

I did with 30psi spoolup, but I don't full trust these numbers so I'm playing it safe until I get on a real dyno. This run was after I fixed the MAF blips from hitting 30psi and getting a choke in MAF readings. My boost gauge shows "---" at same time, so I don't know what the problem is if it's not surge since I don't have a zigzag.

I'll run the logs with the MAF problems later.

Pretty sure Virtual Dyno is more accurate than evoscan, as long as you have your weight accurate and a flat road. I always got weird numbers with evoscan, but may have been using it wrong

Yah It certainly adds another layer of challenge to modding. It's not all bad news though

It's good to see some over reach being corrected.

Your load isn't configured correctly, and you're going over what is allowed. Which looks like 360 load.

Need to change the 2byte load factor.

How do you tell which byte to use?

Under Misc Tephra Mods in ECU flash, you’ll need to raise that value. 1.5 should work.

its a multiplier by 255 as to the load it can understand. You are probably at 1.4 which is 357 max. 1.5 would be 382 or so.

you will then need to change the formula in Evoscan to match.

so the formula you have checked for 1byte, open the settings and change the formula to 1.5 instead of 1.4 or whatever else is there.

flash the rom and all good.
