Head Unit Installation Problem....Please Help!!!

Ok well I have a bit of a problem...I have an Alpine head unit I am trying to put into my car...I have a 05' SSL...so I was reading threads on here about buying the harness for the head unit because I thought it was "plug and play" but I took out the stock radio, and the harness connectors do not fit into my Alpine head unit. The model number is CDA - 9856 if that helps...please instruct me on what to do from here because I am totally lost.

Thank you in advance!

There's a harness that comes with the Alpine that has a black plug on one end and bare ended wires coming out of it. This plugs into the back of the Alpine radio. The adapter is a seperate plug that also has bare ended wires coming out of it, but it plugs into the plug(s) in the car that were unplugged from the stock radio. You wire (preferably solder) the bare ended wires from each plug together, usually color matching, but depends on the application, plug the black plug to the Alpine, and the other plug(s) to your car, put it all back together, and there you go.

ok i think i got the idea..now the only problem is soldering ( i have no experience or tools to do it). Is there any other way/method around it like crimping the wires or is that something totally different?

You can get butt connectors (the little red ones) and crimp them instead of soldering. Soldering is a better more durable connection. Don't get the cheap crimpers from Walmart. Go to home depot or similar and get some decent Kline's (sp?). They are only crimpers and are the best ever until you get up into the 4ga range.

ok new problem...whats with splicing the wires...i stripped them with the wire cutters and i have the butt connectors but how do they connect? Do you have to squeeze them somehow with a pair of pliers? Because I also tried this and had no success

Yes. Twist the exposed ends of the wires and stick them into the hole on the butt connector. Crimp the connector about a third of the way up the connector (about halfway up the end of the wire) with the crimpers that have been mentioned above.
