Ive actually seen just as many IX's have the issue as VIII's. The harness comes through the inner fender in the exact same spot so....

Interesting thread... I want to seal my grommet up, but I'm not sure how to do it. I just made some huge slices into the top of it about a week ago to wire up my fog lights as well as some other stuff... six total small and big wires.

How does silicon sealant work? Do you just make sure that all surfaces are covered, and it dries that way? Also, what's the best option to direct wire the wiring harnesses? crimps, solder + electrical tape, or solder + heat shrink?

Thanks for the info!

Yes silicone will dry like rubber and seal what your looking to. As for wire splicing I only ever solder and shrink tube things. Not a fan of connectors and such

Do it once and do it right.

So I just make sure to get a ton into all of the cracks and spaces between the wires, and I'm good?

Soldering is not hard at all, but I would highly suggest practicing on open wire outside of your car.

If you decide to tackle this yourself, put a blanket underneath so you do not spill hot solder on your carpet.

This is not a job you wanna do twice.

And for the harness that runs through the wheel well, I used Hondabond.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified: I'm fairly experienced at soldering, but I don't know how to strip the shielding back from a wire without cutting the wire.

The question I was asking pertained to silicone sealant which I have no experience with.

Info about both would be appreciated.
