Info about both would be appreciated.

Honestly, I just used a mini butane torch and just heated the end of the shielding, and pulled back as I needed.

Your fingers will hurt a bit when you are doing this. Pay no mind, they will numb.

I just gooped the silicone on, don't be shy with it. I used a small flat edge to make it look "neat".

Yup once you cut the wires to the connector front and back there was def a good amount of slack in the wires to hard solder them together easily. I used wire strippers to strip shielding off and expose the uncorroded wire.

Glad this sticky has help so many so far any ? guys PM us that have done it. PITA yes but once it's fixed no worries ever again.

Ok so I've got a little something to add to this thread. Even after I sealed up the grommet water was still getting down in my harness. How can this be? Well I'll show you. I don't actually think the water was ever getting in my gommet or most anyone elses for that matter. I will show you where it's most likely coming from though.

As you can see Mitsu never even bothered to finish wrapping up the wires in the harness, water gets in here and runs right down inside, using the part that is wrapped up as a perfect slide if you will.

Here is where the wires are uncovered. This is in top of the fender or wheel well (on top of the fender liner) There is a plastic box over the wires but NOTHING to seal the water out from running right inside here and down to your harness plugs.

Here is where I have wrapped up the wires fully with electrial tape, now water won't be getting inside here.

Lastly here is the whole thing, notice I also sealed up the gommet just to be sure.

If someone can copy my pics and rehost them that would be great. I don't have a ton of bandwith.

Good find man. I never follwed the wiring back that far as I could def see the water coming through the grommit as well (squirting water at it from the outside).

But agreed having bare wire there is stupid and I will go back and address it. Even though all my connections are hard soldered now

Don't look into it too much. Just dis connect the battery and cut a couple of wires. This way you have to do it.

This is how I start off all my electrical adventures, this way I know I can't turn back.

Since I ran mine direct, I found no use of that specific "connector bracket", so I just cut it with side cutters and slid the connector through.

My wires still run through there, less the connector.
