This is my compressor snap ring removal tool. Works way better than those flimsy snap ring pliers. I took my die grinder and grinded down the tips of my angled needle nose pliers.

LOL funny you posted that... its almost identical to the snapring set I got.. Except it comes with two pliers, one for an inside snapring, and another for an outside snapring.. (expander and contractor)

Actually, I got a call today saying 10 compressor wheels are on their way in. Hopefully they spec out correctly when they arrive. I need one bad for my own car!

I am looking at these turbos, I am just worried about the spoolup on them, that's all. Also is a larger exhaust manifold needed? Do we need to port our 02 housing to eliminate creep? Will this turbo make as much WHP as a regular off the shelf 20G?

You will need larger injectors for this, and a bigger FMIC. I am excited but I am looking for 420WHP on pump gas, I make 350 Now @ 21PSI, you think cracking 400WHP on pump is possible?

Hi David. I was just wondering, since this new 20G will be using the stock turbine and o2 housing, will it be okay to still use the HKS downpipe? I know a 3" is better but is it necessary? Will the HKS downpipe do fine? I ask this so I could probably keep my stock cat. Thank you.

You could keep the smaller down pipe, but I really think you'd be better off in the long run swapping to a 3" and a high flow cat. It is not like it is going to "hurt" anything. You just won't see the most power you could out of the turbo upgrade.

Thank you. I am just concerned about emission inspections, considering how some HFC's sold here tend to fail.

The MR turbo you have isn't going to make it any easier on me, it will make it a cheaper upgrade for you though.

The HKS downpipe will work fine. We have a full line of HKS parts actually as we are a Pro Dealer.

I did get some news on the compressor wheel today. Not the news I wanted to hear or you guys wanted.

Looks like I am putting all my faith in the local guy here that is working on them for me at this point. Seems as though these other suppliers are worthless.

Good news (yeah right) is a few days ago my local guy told me that he thought within a week and a half he could have a wheel in my hand.

Not surprising considering how precise the rotating assembly has to be for this application. Plus, not many guys out there have a 5 axis lathe or know how to use it.

Patience, folks.

Thanks for the order, really glad to hear you were happy with the service.

This local guru has a 5 axis and says this is an easy job. We'll see.

I doubt it has anything to do with accessibility to a 5-axis lathe... it's all about the money. 100 compressor wheels isn't a whole lot of work. It's getting the CAD model built that costs the money. If it's a complex piece it may take awhile to recoup the CAD investment. For example, some shops I know of won't consider doing a CNC CAD model of a head porting job until they have at least 25 units on their bench waiting to be ported. Sometimes a lower margin job, such as this may be, will often take a back burner.

Basically, time = money.

Hey Dave,

What was the problem with the latest batch? Do the suppliers just not understand what you are asking for? You want a mirror image 20G compressor wheel, but I get the impression they are looking through the compressor wheels they have sitting on a shelf and saying "this one looks sort of like it" and sending you the crap they pull off the back shelf. Is this what is happening?
