The red EVO isn't the car we are taking to the C&D shootout, it is my white RS. The red EVO is much faster than my car. My brothers red EVO is 134 mph in the 1/4, my RS is 116 mph in the 1/4.

I looked up the results of a bunch of past SUPER Tuner results yesterday. I don't care about the Super Four results, I want to compare with the fastest that have ran.

A twin turbo Viper ran 100-150 in 6.90 seconds, a twin turbo Z07 Vette ran 100-150 in 6.66 seconds. Another MTi Z07 Vette ran 100-150 in 11.56 seconds. I have more times but those are the 3 fastest I found. Remainders vary from 12.71 up to 17.77.

Vishnu, when they competed with the GT35R in the Super Tuner ran 100-150 in 14.83 seconds. Their trap speed in the 1/4 was 120 mph. This makes me think something isn't quite right with the logging and I am going to have to try doing this again. I attempted it this morning but ran out of clear roadway. After looking up the times of past competitors yesterday and seeing Shiv ran 14.83 with the large turbo, 25 psi and trap speeds of 120 mph it made me wonder if my 9.02 was correct. I know I was short a few mph but still makes me wonder. I'll re-test.

David I really like reading up on your progress. Its like watching a close family friend's baby grow up very quickly. I look forward to reading more about this car then reading about how you dominated all at C&D.
I'm racing in the C&D/Precision Racing event in Wash DC in August. Seeing you up on here inspires me to do more and push the limit of what I can do. Thanks

It may be righter than you think. Our car had a twisted mainshaft (from One Lap) which made the 4th to 5th gear shift troublesome. At times, Paul had to try the shift 2-3 times before it actually went into the gate. Same problem persisted during the 100-150mph and drivability portion of the C&D test.

IIRC, Paul, Vishnu's driver, stated that it took him a few times to get the car in 5th due to a crappy 5th gear syncro on that run. This in regard to the 100-150 test.

edit: Looks like Dustin beat me.

The red evo runs race gas at the track, right? The white evo is on pump gas which is pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

Yes, the red EVO runs race gas at the track and it is VERY traction limited. The 10.94 we ran was with a 1.83 sixty foot time!

I think the RS is impressive too, to drive it is the thrill. The car is instant when it comes to power. The 11.74 at 116 is good, with a better set of tires I gaurantee it is 11.5's or faster on pump gas.

Wow, and that is coming from someone who has one of the fastest Evos in the Golden State (P.S. did you keep that bad motherf*cker wallet? What did you do with the hundred bucks?)

Good sources in Utah say that Cobb is bringin' a GT35R STI, with high-end Penske suspension and huge Stop-Techs at each corner. Just to let you know they are shooting for the sky on their budget.

Good luck with the Evo, I hope it creams the STI!

I think the DMS/Fuller setup could stomp any STi available short of magnets and rails under one. What is the steering rack ratio comparison between an Evo/STi? Its pretty substantial if I remember correctly, that alone should make the car easier to drive on a track.

As for a GT35R STi, I thought this was a pump gas only contest? Is the slower spool tradeoff worth it? Maybe if any fuels were available. I think the Stoptech setup on the BR car should be plenty good enough. Planning on installing some Performance Friction pads? I hear their track stuff is tops.

Any word on what kind of rubber is going on for the event?

Sounds like this street gas Evo is going to really tear things up! Without race gas or the use of water/alky injection switching to a really large turbo would be tough on lag if you can't rely on the 30+ PSI boost out of the top end. A nice medium sized ball bearing turbo may do the trick keeping near stock spool and an extra boost of HP but would certainly increase the price tag of the upgrades. Did they outlaw intercooler sprayers at all since the 03's came with one stock and could you see some gains especially on the roadcourse when things start to heat up by up-rating the stocker? Since your going to run a high flow cat, would it be possible to weld two side by side for more flow? Likely there isn't enough room and alot depends on their shape but it should give you near test pipe exhaust flow if it fits. Just some ideas to throw out there, I'm eager to see how everything pans out since my goal is to do mid 11's on 93 octane down the road.

The brakes are all done. Stop Tech big brakes on the front, Performance Friction pads on the rear. Stops hard.

This is pump gas only. God help someone if I catch them cheating.

I ran the car at the track last night with the 21g on it. Pump gas, lower boost levels than the huge spikes I was running with the stock turbo. Car ran 118.4 mph in the 1/4 but the compressor surge just driving the car is horrible. Going to take some additional work for this turbo to work.

Suspension, this car rocks. Robert did a great job on it. Anymore set-up on the suspension to make it more aggressive for a real competition, I wouldn't even be able to drive it. The car is better, much better, than I am now. I am extremely cautious driving it now. Scared of corners to be honest. Stock EVO I am comfortable in and I think I could drive a stock car faster than my RS now. It is just better than I am. Robert was bad *** in it, I am not.

The intercooler sprayer is gone on my car, worthless mod in my opinion. I put a cold air intake where the tank was. We will use just one high flow cat on the car, no room for two.

David,

Thanks for the dedication and I hope everything is going great. I spoke with you on the phone and you seemed sort of down I hope it has nothing to do with this project. To be honest I want to see you wax everyone there and truly put your shop and the EVO at the #1 spot. Best of luck do you know what any of your competition is going to consist of yet?

The phone.....................uuuuuhhhhhhhhhgggggggggg gg. Sorry, I honestly hate answering the phone.

We are looking to hire someone else now, just a low paid scum to help answer the phones I had a guy last week, he lasted two days and quite.

I'm not down on this project. I am very concerned with it though.

Hang in there Dave, I know you guys will pull through no matter what it takes. Sounds like the single high flow cat will do just fine and without water injection allowed into the engine the intercooler sprayer is likely not effective enough for the weight. Those Nitrous/Co2 Sprayers for your intercooler may be worth looking into if they are allowed... They said no Nitrous but perhaps the Co2 is legal?

What exactly does compressor surge feel like when driving a car? I bet many people have it without even knowing...

Get someone in there to help you guys out during the busy season to keep your sanity, not to mention I want to get that Buschur Racing turbo back exhaust mounted up soon!
