well, everyone knows your parts are great values/performers. so that's a given. EVERYONE knows what "slight mods" will do to an evo. go talk to any enthusiast and they'll be like "oh with just a couple grand in an evo, you could be XXXwhp, pull 1.XX skidpad" etc, etc. so if you for whatever reason go with the budget in mind, i actually think it's redundant to all evo publicity/reputation up to this point... i just don't see the point. what we have YET to see is a badass evo that has no limit. we mag racers get tired of mentioning the HKS carbon evo
and in terms of publicity... before my evo, i was a honda guy. i had no idea you guys existed. this is not to offend you in any way (in fact, it's more a commentary on my ignorance), but winning this will propel you big time in ALL arenas, not just the 4g63 community. everyone and their mom has heard of vishnu by now, and while i have nothing against them at all, someone like yourself that has been so instrumental in 4g63 tuning really should be as big a household name if not bigger... you REALLY deserve this shot to REALLY get out there.
so go all out, kick some ****, good luck to you!!!!
and if you don't win,
just make damn sure you beat the subies!!!
good luck!!!

Well I have not read through all these post so this may have been talked about.
Dave,
If you can look at the track layout. Look at the turns. What exit speed will turns be? In a event like this, exit off turns will make or break you. With lag, you will get beat. How long are straights? Look at the layout and develop a car that will lose you the least time overall. Its a balance game.

Working on balance and trade offs. This competition covers just about everything. Although to win you have to fastest, the other issues like driveability and such are also talked about.
I am getting closer and closer to making a final decision on how I am going to set up this car as far as the power goes.
I hope a large turbo car with as much boost as you can possibly run can do well at this event............

Right now on the modified stock turbo I am running a peak of 21.8 psi and it falls to 19.8 psi.
I dyno'd with a different turbo yesterday for some testing and was as high as 28 psi on 94 octane at 7500 rpm. Sounds hard to believe I know but with the ignition curve that was in the car and AFR's there was no knock.

Quick update. I want to thank the guys at Stop Tech brakes for helping us out with this event.
We are going to be running the 332 mm front brake kit on the car. This should help us haul the car down 150 mph much better. This is the same brake kit Robert Fuller has been using on his road race EVO with such great success.
Our tires are on there way, got our wheels in today, suspension is also coming shortly. We are looking forward to doing some testing April 15th-17th. For those of you attending our Mitsubishi vs. Subaru Showdown on April 15th you can get a look at what we have been cooking up with the car. We'll also have it on display at the shop for the "carshow" on the 16th, that's the Saturday after the race.
Back on the dyno tomorrow with the car. Hopefully this will be either the last or next to the last time the car needs to be run on the dyno on the stock turbo assembly. After that we are going to start getting crazy with this project and doing some real testing!

Tested the stock turbo again. The MR housing ended up being no better than the normal 10.5 housing from the TME. I then tested the MR housing with the external wastegate right on the MR housing, very cool the way the machining came out to do it. Still, no change. Now we are getting serious.
I will post some pictures of the car up as soon as the tire/wheels and suspension come in and we get it all put on.
Thanks,
David Buschur

Hi David, the only part I have from you is the upper i/c pipe, but I love the throttle response I get out of it.
As much as I would love to see you build an all out car with no budget, what good does it do for you when you only beat the other evo's by .2 sec? I think you would get a lot more respect if you came there with a car that cost less to build than the other evo guys and still beat them.
I'm all crossed up as to what to vote for. Shiv did very well last year with a 'malfunctioning' car. I guess the thing to do is 'guess' what the other evo guys are bringing and bring what you think will beat them for cheaper.
The RS is definetly a good choice. But why are you upgrading the brakes, I've tracked mine a couple of times and they work great. They would just increase your cost of production.
Go with a good cam set up 264/272, EMS and the rest of your go fast goodies. Add in suspesnsion rear sway bar, and a clutch, you should be set.

i would say go all out, win the d8mn thing and make the buscher (already a great company) name known to all, not just the Evo and Talon world. We all know who to go to for our parts. The budget build would be great, but as stated before, most people build in stages as you already have setup. So your stage builds are just like the budget system. We plan a budget and once we get enough we buy the next stage, eventually, we'll have almost all your products anyway, it will just take awhile longer.
Go all out and win.
Go all out and win.
