If you are going to the shootout, go for the win!
That's what everyone else in the competition is doing, not second place.

Here is my point to the super build vote

1. you already have stage 4 cars running and winning.
2. all of your current cars are budget cars. people already know you the best bang for the buck.
3. you HAVEN'T built and ultra high perfomance evo yet? now is the time to strut your stuff a little.

David, go unlimited. I think you have pruven to us that you can build good parts. I have read about your parts and cars in the magazines, and they speak highly about you. I am sure if you build a super car, then the magazine will knock it for lack of daily use. I know, this is the Ultimate thing, but C&D is marketed for the masses, which does not include a lot of us here. We are a little beyond the average reader, we own Evos, some modified and some not. It would be nice to build a nice budget car that the C&D testers could smile about, good performance, good value, great on the bumpy roads of Michigan. You could get 4th, 3rd, or maybe 2nd. But you would not be first. Someone else would be, and they would claim to be better than the Evo and Buscher.
Go all out, pull out every performance trick the rules will let you. So what if you build a 55-60K Evo. A 911S costs a lot more than that. Go into this competition to win.

You can go into this with two approaches:

1. I hope we do well and get our name out, and a decent placing and review would be nice.

2. I am going to kick everyones butt, and then do it again.

You seem like someone that would pick 2.

Good Luck

Shiv,

Actually I spoke with C&D last week and they would prefer you brought the EVO. Yes, you did imply you weren't bringing an EVO, do you need me cut and paste what you typed?

RNR,

Support of us doing well in this event is, well very much appreciated.

Car is going back on the dyno today, I hope. Still stock head/engine/turbo. I am trying to break 400 whp (SAE correction) on the stock turbo and pump gas. Maybe not even break 400 but improve more on the overall dyno curve. The fact that the car with the stock turbo will only hold 17 psi of boost at redline is killing what I am trying to do. If I can get it to maintain higher boost levels it is going to make it even harder to choose my options!

The very fast spooling stock turbo makes for a blast to drive on the street. Couple that with the potential to make an instant 400 whp on pump gas and I find it hard to convince myself that putting a large laggy turbo on the car will make the car faster. Maybe faster to 150 mph but in a trade off to be possible slower in the 1/4 and in the road course section.

Someone asked what the road course looked like, I don't know. He said a good car will cover it in about 1 minute.

Good call, david. You'll sell far more 400 whp kits for a couple grand than you would at the 'unlimited' price point. Everyone WANTS to see the all out special but I don't think they appreciate that you're trying to build parts that people can buy for themselves, and in the end I think that's what BR is all about, and I think in the long run you have to take advantage of the free advertising for real parts.

The car may end up with a larger turbo on it. I just want to see what it runs like with the stock piece first. I mean 400 instantly spooling whp is nothing to sneeze at and the instant spool, depending on how tight the road course is, could gain a ton of time. Also an average 1/4 mile driver will almost always be quicker with a quicker spooling turbo than they will be with a laggy turbo that requires extremely fast shifts to keep it in spool.

Since you will be using an EMS system, why not equip it with anti-lag and keep a bigger turbo on there?

I noticed that you offer the Evo 6.5 TME turbo on your site. Have you considered throwing that puppy on and seeing if you get even less lag?

True. But consider this. The shootouts don't sell stock cars. They sell tuner parts to people who already own the vehicles. A person considering an evo is reading reviews of stock evos when making his purchase decision. Dave is trying to sell to existing Evo owners and they're going to read the buschur evo review no matter where it places. If it does well and the parts are cheap, Dave will do very well.

Hi, this is Larry Webster from Car and Driver. I'm the guy who organizes, plans, and invites specific tuners to our annual 4-cyl Supercar shootout and I wanted to set the record straight about Vishnu and its entry.

When I spoke to Shiv last fall about competing in this year's competition, I did tell him that we'd like to see something other than the same EVO that's been in the past two events. We don't get a chance to cover a huge amount of modified cars, so when we do, we try and provide an interesting mix of different cars. Who would want to read about the same cars every year?

But then I talked to David over at Buschur Racing about his entry and I think I was kinda daydreaming about the fun of having two EVOs battling it out. And considering that the Vishnu EVO was quite fast, it seemed like the two cars would make for a good mini battle within the war. In hindsight, I shoulda kept my mouth shut because--as it turns out--there is another EVO coming. So we'll still have a EVO battle and Shiv can follow the path that I steered him on a few months ago.

So I'm sorry if I caused any confusion. We've got a very strong group this year (Our entry list is full and so is the waiting list, so please don't send me notes saying we should have company X) and I hope that everyone reads the story which will appear this fall.
