clutch problem?
clutch problem?
i started my evo up when i was at a friends and went to take off. i started to release the clutch and give it gas. i watched as the rpm's went to almost redline before i really started to take off. i did not dump the clutch! just a nice easy start. after i finally got rolling i went to shift to second and the same problem, rpms went high and i finally started moving (did this all the way home in every gear). the car is completely stock and has only 2700 miles. i really don't drive the car as much as i should and is going on 4 months old. any insight as to what the problem is?
i really would appreciate it.

When you say "i went to take off", does that mean launching?
did u get a burning clutch smell?
Do you launch alot?
sounds like u have a burnt out clutch, time for a new one.

sounds like you need to learn how to drive stick
if you weren't launching why did you rev almost to redline?
Once rolling why do you rev to redline to shift to 2nd?
i dont quite understand what your describing, i think most ppl dont

Your clutch is toast, you have been slipping the clutch for 2700 miles, is your foot "resting" on the clutch pedal when driving? that smell is a familiar one, I toasted my stock one by 5K miles, the clutch surfaces are glazed and not able to "grab" and get you going, unless your revs are really up there! they can remove and Inspection cover under the clutch and see if it is toast, my 2c is that it IS. sorry dude.

That’s definitely your clutch that is gone, it’s slipping BAD from the sound of it. I’m sorry to say that if you toasted your clutch in 2700miles without any launching you seriously need to improve your driving techniques with a manual stick. The stock clutch would almost last “forever” on a stock car if you never launch it.
well if your not a bad driver, most people always assume, ill give you the benifit of a doubt, youre pressure plate could be defective.. broken fingers... i highly doubt it, but it happens...
i have been driving a stick since i learned how to drive (6 years now) and have no problems with that car. i do try to take my foot off after every shift and lay it to the side. when i was trying to get the car home when i really started to notice it, i got in started the car and give gas let go of clutch, the clutch was totally out and i was still giving it gas and was going no where
clutch sounds fried...that burning smell is what is left of your disk.
sounds like you splip the clutch way too much when rolling away from a dead stop, or maybe you rest your foot on it (without even knowing) while driving?
