You should not simply bolt in this turbo and try to call it a day. In the case of this turbo, the term "bolt-in", simply means that it bolts up to the stock manifold without needing any adapters or modifications. The amount of additional air that the white rabbit will flow will require a retune and will require a fuel pump and injectors ... unless you want to risk grenading your engine.

ovenmitt,

The turbo should be coming next week. I have to get my clutch done first and it looks like it will be sometime late next week for that. Got injectors on the way and a Forge BOV too!

I need to get all this completed before July 9th though..... no pressure, right?!

My plan above my current setup (full exhaust, ebc, fmic upgrade...) is the HKS Twinpower DLI2, 660cc injectors, dnp 02 housing, Water Injection, along with a reflash, from who im not sure yet. With that setup behind the White Rabbit I think the rabbit hole goes into the 11s... All in theory at this point though.

I use an apex afc with a stock ecu instead of a flash. We run our aem wide band as an analog input into our motec adl dash. This allows me to view wide band data around the entire race course then tune for each track with the afc. Unless you are prepared to flash for each track and have the equipment to do so, tuning tools that are on site adjustable are preferable.

John,

How toasted do you think the stock clutch will be (it's an MR)? I don't plan on running cams, and want to keep the boost down (20-22psi) since I don't want to have to put headbolts on. I don't want to have to upgrade the clutch. I have a feeling on 91 I should be fine without cams.

If you are not a dragster guy who is launching all the time a low miles stock clutch should work.

atlvalet,

Well, the worst case scenario that I can imagine is that you install the turbo and take it to get tuned. While on the dyno, the clutch starts to slip during a WOT 3rd gear pull and they are unable to tune you correctly. They might be nice about it and refund you your money for the tune, or may say "sorry, we strapped it on so it's going to cost you."

I was thinking the same thing as you about trying to get away from having to spend the money on a clutch and install. I'm trusting my friend Zeus, who specifically voiced concern for me about the clutch. Obviously, this is going to make some serious power, even at a not so high boost level. The dyno runs that have been posted on pump gas were 23lbs tapering down to 21lbs. That's pretty conservative by any means on this type of turbo.

Only you know what is best for you and what you're willing to spend. If you're willing to take a chance, it's ultimately up to you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Arrghh...hmm, I'll make a few phone calls. This is like building a house. Things keep going up.

There are less than 5,000 miles on my car.

I feel your pain dude, I've only got 9800 on mine. The thing to keep in mind is that if everything goes well...(God willing......) you are going to have a seriously intense driving experience that could only be equalled by spending at the very least three times what you paid for your car PLUS what you put into it........

My brother-in-law in Chicago makes crazy money and drives a 360 Modena. He's trading it in this fall for an already ordered F430. That car will cost over FIVE times what I'll have in my EVO. Granted, his will be a more refined experience, but I'm betting that pound for pound, he won't be getting very far away until after the 150+ mark. He'll handle a bit better too. But I could build this thing OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER.... well..... OK, I guess I'm just trying to make a point........

The clutch is being installed at Top Notch Performance on Perrin Beitel. They did my cams, gears and fuel pump.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and pray that everything goes OK.........
