I will have a full race head with ported intake, exhaust, 1mm oversized
Ferrea racing valves, crower valve springs and retainers, hks 272/272
cams and cam gears. How high can I rev the engine with these mods or is it the 2.0 stroker kit that can make the engine rev higher?

U should be able to rev to 9k. I have a friend with the head done and 280 cams and he revs real close to 9k.

9k?! thats like s2000 range, pretty high, but will you be making power all the way up to there?

yeah, you probably could rev up to 9000rpms. but are you on a stock turbo, if so that little thing is going to get very stressed.

unless you have a bigger turbo its redundant to rev that high.. plus i wouldnt recommend it on a stock bottom end.. and why do you want to rev that high...

Your valvesprings may be up to 9000 rpm but I'd be concerned about spinning up the stock rods that hard. A stroker kit is actually not the way to go for higher revs because of increased piston speed and worse rod/piston geometry from the longer stroke.

The valvetrain will handle 9k but the rod bolts won't

Well if the stock turbo can hold 26psi with alky, I dont see why reving it to 9k is gonna do any harm. I guess the bottom end would have to be built in order to rev it that high

It isn't efficient at 26psi, and that doesn't have anything to do with going to 9k rpm anyway. The stock turbo runs out of breath well before you get to 9k rpm, so it would be a waste, not to mention dangerous.

theres no need for it...a higher revving engine doesn't mean your going to make more power. you just need to run your car on a dyno. then you'll know your exact powerband and when you need to shift and such. also yeah sure...you engine might be able to rev to 9,000 rpm...but how many times it can do that should be the question.

My friend revs his talon to 9500 no problem. He has some better internals though. I would say 8500 wouldnt give you any trouble. I rev to 8000 all the time and I have nothing done to the valvetrain or bottom end. And until today I didn't have head studs either. With 28 psi though I don't trust the stock bolts anymore.

yeh i don't see the point either.

unless you have bigger capacity turbo, you really don't need to rev that high. Your stock turbo is long out of its efficiency range at around 6000 rpm.

you don't have that sorta compression ratio that s2k or other n/a cars have like nsx.

you could rec upto 9000rpm though. i don't know how long it'll last though.
