I would love for a local tuner to set up a EVO day at MSR!!!!!
Your definitely thinking along the same lines that I am.. But I'm waiting on a 2.3 (I have most of the parts) until I can do some more 2.0l testing with different variants of the twinscroll turbos...

I got a call from Robert Young this morning. He mentioned the upgraded wastegate actuator, and that he'll be sending me one. It would have been nice to have known this was on Switzer's car from the get go (based upon info in the above post).

You'd be suprised how much the stock housing will flow.

20+ lbs of boost at 2300rpm, i would love to see that. is that in every gear. I am not sure i would compare how the WR compares the stock turbo if your talking 2.3l vs stock motor. most of us would like to see the gains received with near stock internals.

the dyno sheet correct or uncorrect will not change sign. based on a few degrees in temp. look it up. altitude plays a much larger roll. so your looking at 5- 10 more HP most people were more stunned about some of the 70-80 HP gains other were posting on stock motor. Let AL post the sheet and see. I have done over 100 dyno comparisons and largest gap was 15HP and that was 30 degree compared to high humidiy 97 degree on a 500hp motor. obviously the less power to start with the less change.

will keep watching

You'd be surprised the amount of backpressure issues you will run into when throwing to large of a wheel into a stock housing.

edit: but this would would probably show it's face later on down the road... that's all

I assume the new wastegate holds more psi
what did Robert say ?

after the Vishnu dyno day I actually put in a restrictor in the wastegate line
which made my turbo spool 300 rpm faster and holding more boost on the top

Robert said that the stiffer spring in the actuator won't open until 20 psi, where the stocker goes at around 11. That makes sense to me because as my car builds boost, it hesitates around 10-11 psi for a fraction of a second before boosting to 22 or 23 on 91.

Also, for all you internet bandwagon ******, Robert mentioned he picked up the infamous WR turbo that AL dynoed. He mentioned that somewhere along the line, someone lengthened the actuator, and that it was out of spec. Basically, the wastegate was cracked open all the time. Of course, I don't expect that to make it on this forum, right?

Huh? I didn't get any phone call yet. Back on topic. Maybe the whole problem with everyone not making any power is the tuner, not knocking Al, but maybe it just doesn't like flashes. I wish there was a thread that had the WR owners get together and post up what kind of EM they have. But lately every WR thread has turned into a bashing contest. I guess i was one of the lucky ones and made on an avg 70whp after a little fuel work, I am heading back to the dyno tomorrow to get tuned the rest of the way. I am working for 400+ with no alky, well see what happens.

I could calculate it if I had exact dimensions of the minimum cross-sectional areas of the compressor housing (at the blade tips) and the turbine nozzle(s). 10.5cm^2 is probably the turbine nozzles' minumum combined area. But I'm thinking more along the lines of the compressor housing.

Oh well. It's just a guess.

I got a phone call because I e-mailed him yesterday.

People are funny. On the day my WR was tuned on 91 I got 306,306. the Vishnu stage 2 only made like 340whp or so (on 100 it made a boat load more though. This was at 100 degrees or more.

Bad info. We have not recieved any of the high pressure actuators yet. They are due to arrive in about two weeks.

Sorry. I should have clarified. I said you would be sending me one. I just didn't clarify when. Robert said beginning of August. Better?

Is your dyno open again or is it still locked up in the shut down shop?
