I just installed a 3" downpipe and testpipe, took the car for a spin, and noticed my boost now maxes at 22 PSI. Is this normal? I don't have any sort of boost controller or EMS so I guess it's just because the turbo has less restriction. Of course, as soon as the ECU notices the boost is 22 PSI, it quickly corrects and brings it down to 18-19 so I don't think I'm gaining any performance by the boost alone...although the full 3" catless exhaust definitely helps!

Why, is the temporary boost spike bad for the engine? I don't have a boost controller yet.

Ok, good. BTW, with no cat I love the exhaust fumes. My Evo now SMELLS like a race car.
