Oil thread

I just checked my oil level and it's almost a quart low is this normal? It's my first time checking it and the car has 2,400 miles on it and hasn't been changed yet! Should i worry ?

I have a similar problem on my car. 3K miles and low 1/4 quart. I just topped it off. Apparently this is pretty normal on Evos.

It depends on how you drive it. If you drive it hard alot then you will use some oil and since it's still new, everything is still "sitting" in. I would suggest you change you oil now. Metal particles will circulate and might due some damage. On a new car/engine, most of us have our first oil change around 700-1000 miles.

i did my oil change at like 1000 and by the first 750 i was almost a quart low. its got 3400 now just put in 1/4 of a quart its going to sit all winter starting it once in a while. first thing in the spring is an oil change. so to answer your question i am going to say its completely normal, top it off and have some fun, of cource be safe.

I wouldent worry too much about being a quart low. Did you check it when you first got it home? You might have got it low.

I did nothing above 5K rpm and no more than 50% throttle for the first 1200 miles then changed the oil. now at 3K some oil disappears. Even now, 90% of the time I do not go over 5K rpm or 50% throttle when driving around. So it is definitely not because of hard driving. My car barely knows what boost is like.

From what i thought, low oil was common for the sub 1000 mile evo's. But you have more than that. Break-in is complete. I would change the oil and make sure the oil filter is ok. Maybe the rings didn't break-in correctly. Blow by.

My EVO has under 200 miles and i smell an oil smell since the first time i drove it. I'm guessing i should check my oil level occasionally as well.
