Greg: With your upcoming IX 280 intake cam can we run one of your 272 VIII exhaust cams and that way have a staggered 280/272 setup on an Evo IX? I am thinking of buying a IX soon and I like the 280/272 combo.

Greg, I'm curious to see if there were any other mods on that car (ie: TBE). I hope the only mod on your car was the cams because that's not very big HP if there were any other mods.

My IX made 355whp on that same dyno with just an exhaust and MBC set to 22psi (stock cams), tuned by Al.

Most IX's are making around 340-350whp on Pruven's dyno with just exhausts and boost controllers when Al's tuning them.

I would hope to see an IX make around 370-380whp on that dyno with exhaust, MBC, fuel pump and your cams.

That was an evo 8. Not a IX. Look at the date on the dyno sheet.

Also you must have a bad *** tuner!!! I have seen stock evo 9's dyno and they are gettin tops 250 to the wheels. And my buddy has a 9 and he has close to the same mods i do with ECUtec tuned and he is pushing like 350 to the wheels.

Is this at Mynes, don't they use a Mustang Dyno. 250WHP tops, seem very low to me, maybe the gas is sh*tty over there in Arizona, what do VIIIs dyno on the same Dyno?

Think AMS needs a test IX car for the 280 cams?

I would also like to know what the 280/272 combo will do. I have access to a mustang dyno and a dynojet in town. Send me a pm if I could be one of your ginnie pigs

No it wasnt at mynes and actually im not sure if they use a mustang or not. When i put mine evo 8 on the dyno i went to dyno comp in scottsdale. They use a dynojet. I put down 235 whp stock. I put on a tbe, intake and walboro and went back and put down 303 whp. And that was on 91 pump. And yes the gas is ****ty as hell out here. Oh yeah and that is with ECUTEC tuned. The guy told me he put a set of 264i/272e on another evo with almost the same supporting mods as me and put he put down 338 whp. But this guy also does pretty conservative tunes so bernardo might just have a pretty bad *** tuner. I wanna go to vivid out in mesa, i heard they can tune the **** outta UTEC's.

Stock for stock VIII's and IX's put down similar numbers per Shiv and Buschur. It is after a reflash that the gains become apparent.

FWIW, when I got tuned the car before me was a VIII with 255pump, FMIC, cams, MBC, TBE no cat, all hardpiping, intake etc. A full BR stg 4 car. He did 275whp on 93 pump. I went after him with TBE w/ hi-flo cat, MBC, BR intake and did 280whp on 93. Both tuned by Al on Buschur's dyno.

Comparing an VIII to a IX is about the same as comparing an LS1 to a LT1 for the most part.

Will aftermarket valve springs and retainers require with the GSC 280 cams on the evo xi?
