There is no difference in a 2006 IX downpipe from a 2005 VIII. They are identical.

If it fits 2006, then it fits 2003-2006. If it fits 2005, than it fits 2006.

This is the point.
Yes, we arent on the same page because not all dp are the same. I think maybe you are referring to your brand or a certain brand of dp. A rnr dp is not the same size/shape/fitment as a buschur dp. Therefore, fitment will differ between brands. And yes not a dp from a 03 or 04 will not fit a evo 9. At least the ones I have seen. I have noticed different bends in the dp on 03-04evo 8 which would rendor it useless if tried to be put on a 9. Hell, even the dp I have on now barely clears. My friends dp on his 04 would never clear on my car. I know cause I was going to buy it off of him. But found out it wouldnt fit the hard way.

Please tell me which brands you are referring to that fit all evos.

We are still a little off.

This will make it easier.

What the hell are you guys arguing about? The point is:

05-06 dp's will fit 03-06... BUT 03-04 will NOT fit 05-06

I think you guys forget that Ultimate Racing fits like a charm on a 2005, so its the same for the EVO 9. UR DP is 3 inches and has a flex section

Good luck with the buy

Dang i just got my Espelir Catback- with ASPEC Cat-delete (Ti made weighs like 1 pound ive heard its the only TP made Titanium)..and waiting for the Espelir DP but now knowing the DP is 2.75 i might have too change it up. The Espelir Catback is 3" why would they do a 2.75 on the DP if the Cat is 3"?! why not a Nice 3inch all the way

Just got the tanabe DP its 2.75 and fits great. On a mildly-moderate modified evo all you need is 2.75in.

This is correct. The gains of going up to a 3" that may have clearance issues are more than likely very minimal, especially considering that the stock turbo outlet elbow prevents any further gains from going to a larger dp from truly being realized.

What is the exit diameter of the Tanabe DP?

Tell that to David Buschur and his EXTENSIVE dyno testing.

Do you have any dyno charts to prove your point?

I think the argument is that it is known that people HAVE had fitment issues with the currently offered Megan downpipe on 05's and up. For that reason, Megan is redesigning the piece again (for the 3rd or 4th time) to make sure it does fit the 05 and up Evos.

I've suspended selling what Calvin (Megan) and I now call the 03-04 downpipe to 05-06 customers. Right now, I have catbacks only available for the 05 and up crowd. 03-04 guys are unaffected and can get full turboback systems.

I heard some similar things regarding the Helix. Guys saying it was basically rubbing on the oil pan. I got a supposed new one and its fitmet is flawless. Good clearance all over.

Yes, all manufacturers tend to constantly "tweak" their product... I'm glad Helix seems to have their's straight. My current 05-06 Megan customers ask what downpipe to run with the catback. I may recommend the Helix until Megan's is ready. I'll find out more.
