Here's a dumb question but I gotta ask: How are you guys determining when the clutch engauges/disengauges? I understand that when you start to get grab it is engauging but how are making the measurement at that time? Is there a way to get these measurements while the car is parked? I can get a pretty good idea of when the clutch starts to disengauge by pushing on it with you hand and feel when the resistance increases but how can you tell when it fully disengauges?

You mean for example, if the car starts to roll when the pedal is 3" off the floor, from THERE, when is the clutch fully engaged? ie another inch or so? from 3" to4" is the start and end of the clutch engagement? that is a good question, never thought about the END of the engagement, only the beginning. I don't know if that matters as much, but will wait to see what the people "in the know" say. I don't know. It is not a dumb question though.

 

It's a stock clutch as far as I know. I just bought the car used, 62k on it now. I also just had it in to the dealer for the 60k service, so I wouldn't expect that there was any fluid problems, but they might have just topped off everything and called it good...So I need to adjust the clutch out first.

 

That is alot of miles on the "stocker"!! Adjust it first. There is a rubber "plug" under the tranny, you can remove that, and look up there. if you See YELLOW, it is an ACT clutch, if you see annodized purple, it is an Exedy clutch up there. Have the dealership run your VIN, and maybe in the "history" it will say, if somewhere, your clutch was changed, and what it is.(it will even tell you what problems (if any) that car has had in the past.) If it is the stocker still, if adjusting it doesnt help, its time to put that "old" boy out to the pasture and get another one.

I need to give this a try. I'm still on the stocker at 19,000 miles. It never slips but it does feel kind of weak and it's very notchy even after BG synchoshift. Hopefully it will be warmer than 40 degrees here tomorrow!
