Which turbo????????????

My head is going crazy trying to decide which turbo to get. I want something small, but enough power to get 400whp. It is between a GT28RS, T3/T4, or a .50 trim. This is going to be with the DNP tubular manifold with external wastegate and custom downpipe. If you guys can think of any other turbo please let me know. This is also my daily driver.

I personally don't like the turbokits much.. I suggest a Evo 9 20G turbo with a few mods. Some big turbokits can be absolutely dissapointing when driving in traffic(awful turbolag and awful efficient power band).

Your 400whp goal is feasible with a Evo 9 20G, Cams, Alky and basic bolt ons and you will retain streeability for daily driving.

just my .2c

Thanks for your opinion. I have 272's right now with turboback, intake, cam gears, and a hardpipe kit. I was going to do TTP's meth setup at 32lbs but I would rather just go a little bigger of a turbo. I am trying to stay away from alky or meth if I can just do this. I don't really have a problem with traffic in Florida so that is not a problem for me.

Revmoto: a buddy of mine just installed te TT 50 trim and i think he is putting down 424whp on pump gas and basic bolt ons. IMO 50 trim is the way to go.

Carlos is right. The original BR 20G-9-5 should fit the bill. In addition, there may soon be a newer, higher output version as well, which is undergoing final testing, and may be worth waiting for.

Thanks...... I was looking at a similar kit that turbo trix did with a 20g and it put down 427whp. They both sound nice. Anyone know the numbers I should make off a GT28rs?

Revmoto,

The turbotrix version is a different beast though. Turbotrix offers it own header, downpipe, waste gate and housing. I just want to make the clarification that is very different to the 20G offered by Buschur.

The Evo 9 20G sold by Buschur is a much affordable bolt on version while the Turbotrix is more oriented as a turbokit itself (all custom made and not compatible with some stock evo parts such headers, downpipe, etc)

You'll have difficulty reaching 400 WHP with the GT28. Probably the smallest GT series turbo you'll wanna look at is the 3071. The TT "Real 20G" is impressive on race gas. It is a whole kit, though and requires its own header & DP setup. The 50 trim kits are nice, if you wanna be around 400 on pump. Are you wanting a pump gas 400 WHP or a race gas/Alky 400?

Well, now is the time to make those important decisions. The TTP is track tested and all that but 32PSI out of your stock turbo is suicidal. On the other hand consider the extra expenses of the turbokit like the turbokit itself, bigger intercooler, better BOV, fuel pump, injectors custom tunning.

At the end of the day the Evo 9 20g will trully fullfill both criterias(good dyno numbers on a affordable budget)

Low 11's at 120mph+ is fast! Alot of times people get caught up in the these big drag numbers, but actually driving a well sorted EVO that traps 120mph+ is alot of fun.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I am going with a .50 trim. I am doing almost the same thing as the turbo trix set up. But if I do it myself it seems that it comes out a whole lot cheaper. LOL. The DNP manifold with a 44mm external wastegate is what I am going with and the same they use. I am getting a custom downpipe made also for it. I have 660 injectors already so that is not a problem. I also have the upgraded BOV. I just need a new core. Pretty much a .50 trim is going to cost me like 2k.

Let us know how my hp you're making with the one you piece together. I was also thinking of the DNP manifold with the 50 trim as well. From what I've read, TT's 50 trim is built to their spec so it may be a little different than one that you would pick up from a different vendor.

I do not know which one I am going to get. I am going to find one with the same specs as the TT. I get pretty good discounts on Turbonetics or Garrett.

Idk maybe after the install is finished and I feel the need for a little more power.
