Is this BAD???

Hey guys I have a friend and we did a lil dataloggin in his evo and he was getting 1 to 3 counts of knock at 7,000+ RPMs seemed like right before he was shifting gears just sparatic here and there and I was wondering if hes OK. I was told that u did not want any knock any the higher RPMs. Suggestions Please

Might have more luck in the tuning sections..

But, how sustained is the knock? Is it random? Does the car pull timing?

i think you don't want knock on the lower rpm. you have knock on the higher rpm is because there is not enough fuel on the higher top. the fuel pressure is not high enough to supply the engine need. i think.

You do not want knock anywhere in the rev range. 1-3 isn't considered horribly bad but it also depends on other factors like what Stew said. What you want is 0 knock across the whole rev range.

find the rpm's where the knock and most likely 6000+ from what your saying and take out a degree of timing if its pulling from those load cells.

1-3 counts of knock is what a lot of cars have from the factory. It is not enough to retard ignition timing (which causes loss of power). I would still try adding some fuel around that rpm range or maybe pulling the timing back a degree or two.

1-3 counts of knock in the upper rev limit is not bad at all...stop putting out misinformation
