Evo reverse question?

My reverse is grinding on my evo 9 with 17k on it. It is possible they might not warantee it. How much you think it would cost if they dont warantee it? Would it make more sense for me to just send my tranny to Shep trans to rebuild the whole thing for 900$ for there basic rebuild?

Why don't you try presenting the problem to Mitsu first.

Are you at a complete stop when you go into reverse? If you are moving 1mph, it will grind.

Same problem here at dead stop with clutch fully depressed. '05 Evo GSR completely stock 28000 miles. I'm gonna have mitsubishi check it out when I get my new windshield installed.

Let the clutch out slowly while pushing it into reverse. Does it still have the problem? Mine ground unless I did that, its kinda common in a lot of manual transmission cars that don't have some other form of lock out (pushing down or having to push with more force to get past a spring sideways etc).

if its just reverse doing it i would let it be.... pump the clutch couple times and it should go in at a complete stop. theres no reason at all for it to grind at a stop.

Cheers!

yeah, that's what I thought too but since the driveshaft still has inertial movement, if there's a problem with the cam plate it could result in a grinding of the reverse gears. Ill have to find the link that explains it better than I can...

My reverse grinded in my old 8. I just went to 5th first left the clutch in then pulled it to reverse. No grids. Try it. It may save you a few bucks. Though, it wont solve the problem.
