When I did run the HTA35R with .63 I had no surge at all. If you want a 35R, this is definatly the way to go. Butthe .82 doesn't seem bad at all. D Bushur said a couple of times he couldn't get it to surge.

Well,
Good news and bad news. The bad news is simply the time this is all taking. FP took entirely too long to ship my HTA. A month and a half to be exact. Had I kept my stock intake manifold, we would have been done two weeks ago. But I talked Alfred into installing my AMS VSR intake manifold. Then it turns out I forgot to order the map sensor adaptor that is need if you are running the stock maf. So, that was a special order from Chicago. The intake manifold looks great and the new piping/plumbing is gonna look and work great too. Next since the street class time attack requires a functional CAT, I decided to switch to Ethanol E85. Next, the intake mani requires a different upper intercooler pipe TTech had a super cool modded uicp in stock but it needed to vent to intake bung welded onto it and then be sent out for powercoating. While they are at it, they decided to clean up some of my bov silicone plumbing and clamps which are a bit substandard. So, here we are: HTA ready to go, other minor projects holding us up. Add to that that as a sponsored car, I sometimes have to get in line behind customer cars which are always a priority. Arrrggghhh.
The good news is that the turbo fits perfectly and that the E85 cost only 3.09, compared to 3.92 for 91 octane ****. So, with the additional fuel required with e85 the cost is about the same. An old evo buddy with a similar car to mine says that after remapping the fuel, he was able to tune the e85 like it was VP110 octane leaded, but even add more timing with the e85. He held off at 28-29 psi.
While the upper intercooler piping is off, I'm looking for a great deal on a ported stock throttle body. Anybody??

you can't have my ported stock throttle body, but I could have given you a map adapter, I have one I've never used and it needs a good home.
I'm also running the .63 housing on the HTA35R, on a 2.2l stroker, and there is no surge at all with that compressor housing. I wouldn't worry about surge with that housing at all.

Man just read through 8 pages to catch up as i was wondering the same about the .82 housing however i have a non-hta 35r.
Don't think i can justify the later spool as the car is driven on the street a lot.
Sucks to have one thing after another get ya especially after waiting sooo long for the turbo
I'll be checking up on the progress as you make more.
By the way i think i've seen your name on NorCalEvo's list for quickest et's but it sounds like this car is set-up for time attack unless it's a different one.
I hope to be at Sac Raceway this Sat for TNT hoping to get a 10 sec slip finally
By the way where abouts do you get the E85

I've been thinking about getting the HTA treatment for my 35r too. I currently have the .63 hotside but might go to the .82 the only thing is I have the AMS kit and I think the bolt pattern is different on a .82 housing so then I wouldnt be able to properly bolt my wastegate/downpipe to it.....any AMS people found a way to go to the .82 and somehow use the downpipe/wastegate???

I just sent off my turbo to forced performance today. i have a .63 hotside might go to the .82 but not sure yet. I'm still unsure of which one would be better for my stroker motor. Hopefully they wont have the turbo for too long. He said the wait would be about 3 weeks. BUT I guess ya never know. I'm pretty patient though. which hotside would ya'll use for a 2.3 liter stroker???
