but my first clutch job, $450
I bought the clutch and fluids. Fluids all together was like 100$ (whole tranny)
so it was $550 with extra fluids left over

but that was back then
now i do it myself
I just buy fluids.
Clutch's dont last forever, might as well learn to do it yourself
and yes, it take a LOT of time, like 20 hours all together

leave the shop and shop rivalry eventhough entertaning aside and get the step by step directions (evomoto.com)and do it yourself like I did, it was pain in the a$$ but I saved $500 and it was the first tranny I have ever dropped. guess what it has worked perfectly since over a year ago. I don't regret it.

 

If you do it yourself, figure a weekend, unless you have experienced removing the gearbox and surrounding items just to facilitate the job. This is with the correct tools and safety equipment, information/tutorial and lubricants. It took me 20 hours to do it just by myself armed with jackstands, blocks of wood of various sizes for balancing and leverage and portable jacks, and this was in a continuous run. The slowest part was the removal and re-install of the transmission, TC and getting it all back up. You will be tired, so supply yourself with food/beverage and some tunes or you will just go whacko.

In retrospect, the experience gained far outweighs the money that it could have cost to have it done by someone else.

 

i just got off the phone from ams and they are saying $855 for install with buying the clutch from them.

 

Don't go to the dealer. They charged me 2 years ago over 1700$ (stock clutch + install).

no rocket scientist but be prepared to bench that tranny! The ****ers heavy

 

In my area Straight Line Automotive, Matawan NJ charges $600 and it includes transfer case fluids and trans fluids and they've done tons of EVO clutchs...

 

i paid $350.00 @ a shop..... a local guy that does "side jobs" at his friends shop. He did a good job.

 

That's a good deal. Might have to check them out when I'm ready to upgrade my clutch.
