Also I don't think you can buy a manifold alone - with no other mods - and expect much of a difference. Suppose you replace the stock manifold with a tubular part, and let's say you have a decent exhaust and downpipe but leave everything else alone...would you still see 15-25 whp gains across the board and how would the new manifold affect the torque curve - because if it compresses the torque curve the car is going to feel "sluggish" from a stop.
come on now we are assuming you do all your basic mods first of course. that is almost like saying if all you have is exhaust and you put anew turbo on there will you net your avg 50-100whp increase. you have to help it breathe do all the basic mods first.

For example, you can pick up some nice gains just by replacing the stock exhaust and doing nothing else. You can then say "I picked up about 10-20 WHP just by getting a new DP/exhaust" and most people could do the same and expect similar results.

When it comes to a part like the manifold, the gains (if any) that you see will depend a lot more on what else you have done to your car....so one guy may see 20 WHP gains and another guy may see 5 WHP or less. So does anyone have some dyno sheets that show stock vs ported stock vs tubular manifolds, where the manifold is the only part that changed between each run.

There was big post done on a Evo VIII and it showed the Shearer making something like 15-20 hp over the BR ported stocker. I have to find the post.

My eyeballs hurt I just read this entire thread. I think spending upwards of four digits on a manifold is a bit crazy, but who am I kidding, Im gonna do it. Any body heard anything about the J speed manifold?

if you want to make power and squeeze every drop out your setup you will spend the 750+ for a good tubular manifold I know i did

my head is spinning from readin this thread. i will simply say that a turbo mani will only net horsepower gains in relation to what else is done to the car. so results will vary greatly from person to person, car to car.

that being said, i really like the jm fab piece. have seen it in person, welds are great, design is awesome, only downside is price. but like someone else mentioned, your willing to spend the coin if you want the power. that being said I have no first hand experience with this piece, so take it with a grain of salt

I have heard alot of people saything that you will get better spool, I have also heard people saying you will get slower spool over ported stocker etc..

Im looking at swapping my MAPerformance Ported Exhaust manifold out for a Coated and Wrapped Full-Race manifold. I have a 2.3L + Ported/Coated HTA EvoBlack.

Does anyone have results of a FullRace manifold on a similar setup? Has anyone changed out from a ported stocker to a fullrace? How was power/torque? Spool effected??

This setup will not be run on E85 (yet..)

its pretty much universally known that on any good tubular setup you will gain power/tq over a ported stocker but you will loose alittle spool. basically give up low end for sure to gain mid and high. you have to decide if gaining +15+ is worth the mild spool loss and low end grunt of your ported stocker. You dont need to coat and wrap it either waste of funds. Coat it only and be done with it.

I only really care about gains 3800 ~ 4000RPM and above. So if that will give me gains the powerband I want, then its all good. It will be worth it.. (considering it is basically a race car now..)
