Help! Clutch pedal is stuck, will not push in

I just got a new clutch about 680 miles ago, and did proper break in (500 miles) for this new Competition stage 4 6puck and flywheel. Today, i floored it in 2nd gear and pushed the clutch to shift to 3rd but my clutch pedal stuck to the floor and didnt come up. I pulled over and pulled it up with my hand, and now the pedal is really stiff. There is still a little bit of free play, but after that it will not go in, and i dont want to force it in. now my car will not go into gear. when try to shift to 1st, i can tell the car is trying to move, even though it is not fully in gear. what could this be? all help is appreciated cuz my car is not driveable until this is fixed. Thanks !

Sounds like the clip broke or popped out.

That sucks bro. Definately sounds like your wedge collar retaining clip broke.

could be the clip but can also be your slave cylinder, id check that before you tear the tranny apart

jack the car up and take the rubber plug at the bottom of the tranny off so you can see if it is the clip that came off.

definately the clip. and DONT push on the clutch again after you have lifted the pedal off the ground manually. the slave cylinder is maxed out the throw and the clutch fork is hitting the bell housing. if you push hard enough you can 1)bend clutch fork 2) break slave cylinder 3) hurt bell housing. although you would have to press really hard for any of the above to happen. you already know the tranny needs to come out though, so don't press on it anymore if it is stiff.

Damn that really sucks!

I had a similar thing happen to me last week. Sunday I installed the clutch and Monday driving home from work I push in the clutch pedal and it gets stuck.

What I did was, I pulled over and inspected the slave cylinder. It was fully pushed out. So I grabbed the clutch fork part and tried pulling it but it didnt do anything. I kept wiggling and pullying but no luck. So I went back in the car and just used the tip of my foot to pop up the clutch pedal and it did with ease. I went back out and double checked the slave cylinder and clutch fork but they did not move and were in the same position.

I then thought about about trying the clutch out and carefully pushed it. It felt like it was operating normally. So I proceeded to start the car and I was able to drive back home and havent had any problems since then.

Now I still dont know for sure what happened. I'm guessing between 2 things that might have occured:

a. Throw out bearing never cliped on properly and came off.
or
b. The clutch pedal some how grabbed on to the switch behind it. That switch that gets pushed in so the car knows you've pressed the clutch so you may turn it on.

The reason I just recently came up with option (b) is because I later adjusted the clutch pedal height and slightly bent that swith away and the car wouldnt start. So when I took a look, I bent it back so it touches the clutch pedal. Maybe the pedal got stuck on it some how? But thats just a guess.

Just out of curiousity, how do you guys have your clutch pedal height adjust to? Mine is set so it grabs pretty high. I'm curious if clutch pedal height might have any affect to your situation.

Maybe it all this could be happening due to clutch pedal height adjustment?
