Unhappy water pump problem...

Ok so I had replaced my original water pump after my old one had problems at around 35,000miles back in April of 2009.

Now I just popped the freeze plug out of my water pump that is only 8 months old.. What other problems could be causing this??
I mean 2 water pumps in less than a year?? Thats insane!!

p.s. searched, and searched nothing that deals with my same situation was found..

Any alternatives as water pumps go? anything aftermarket that would help??

I never understood why the pump his this plug. The passage coming out of housing is not machined. However much pressure the pump can put out at high rpm is going to bare on this plug.

Pull the pump, put some sealant in the bore and replace the freeze plug. Then have someone who welds aluminum apply a few beads of aluminum around the circumference of the the lip of the freeze plug. Now, it can't come out.

My car had this problem several times. Auto parts stores carry plugs, I do not recall what the exact size is, but just hammer it in there nice and straight. Put some JBWeld over the top of it and hope it never pops off again. I freaking hate that plug.

Sorry this happen bro! Do a compression test bro and go from there. My water pump popped a core plug last week and it was the head gasket. Good luck bro!

Yea I had the same idea, bad design on mitsubishis part..
thats a really smart idea.. bead of aluminum around the plug.
but yea the plug fell off while I was driving, so I'm guessing I could find one somewhere around here
