Rear Diff Options - Power Oversteer Found Here
I gotta mention -
I know this isn't exactly related to motorsports, but I took my car out for a spin in the snow to test out the DWS tires etc today.
Rear diff is SO MUCH FUN in the snow - anything more than a judicious jab of the throttle results in full tail out oversteer that is really well managed with counter-steer etc. I really haven't had so much fun in the car for a while (haven't been able to drive it much this past year).
If I'm driving "normal" in the snow, and I'm turning and at the limit of the tires grip, adding speed slowly will result in widening the arc. Putting my foot down results in tail out oversteer. I really love the way the car behaves in the snow right now lol.
Before, what I would do (for snow fun) is crank the wheel, floor the gas, and it would understeer until the center diff locked and then the car would slowly start to come around into a slide.. Now all it really takes is a little too much throttle and I will be going completely sideways. Another great reason to get one of the rear diff upgrades!
Almost worth the salt/saltwater/saltsnow mix splattered all over my right now

BTW, the rear diff I built myself works like a champ. I never thought to update. I am going to have to add some additive, it's too tight in parking lots and noisy. We could do these at our shop for anyone with their car there. Just keep it in mind.
that reminds me to mention, the 75w110 has been in my cusco rear diff for a while now - car hasn't made a single peep, feels great overall. My gas mileage has gone down though, but it didn't happen immediately after I switched so I'll have to see
It was very slight but I could swear I got better mpg from 75w90 then from 75w140.
Jon @ TRE received my Diff 4 business days ago. I did get a confirmation that it was received but haven't heard since...I'm very eager to get it back and see how great it is
One thing that concerns me is Jon's phone number is not functional at the moment...I've tried calling 6 times a day for the passed 3 days...
I also forgot to mention i wanted the 1.5 way...I hope i don't end up with something else.

I have his cell phone # but that is gonna cost ya big $$$$

My RIP-built TC, TM and Diff are still going strong but I am giving them to him to do a quick once-over to make sure things are still 100%. His work and knowledge is definitely a few steps ahead of the competition

Email him at jon@teamrip.com and be very specific with what you sent and what you want. I expect you will hear back tomorrow. . .

Especially the competition that does not magnaflux each part, shot-peen gears, or custom fit each part. . .

looks like his phone is working now, but still no answer, I'll call back again later today...I'm sure his just backed up
does the power level of the car make much of a difference with this Diff?
I'm going to be making about 370whp on fftec's mustang dyno ..so 425-440 on dynojet
I'm going to be using the diff for track days, on NT01's
My alignment has been set to what I think should work with the Diff..let me know if I made a mistake
0 Toe all around
-2.4 Front
-1.9 rear

I just hope I can get it installed and broken in before my March 5th/6th track days
what kind of break in procedure am I looking at?

Being that it has new bearings and the ring & pinion has been shot peened I would treat it as if it were new. During the first 100 miles I wouldn't launch the ***** off it and avoid highway speeds but people have installed them into their EVO and went road racing the same day yet it would be best to take it easy at first. As for the friction plates just some full lock turns in both directions until you feel dizzy. Enjoy

Thanks
Email usually works best (when it's working properly) especially when you put your name and pertinent info in the title. . .
