OEM vs MR Gasket MG-7235 exhaust manifold gasket
I have a 2003 evo 8 and I am upgrading to a GT35R setup. I do not want to reuse the OEM gasket with 55k miles on it over $20.
I finally verified that the Mr Gasket does work with the evo from the stmtuning website (I have not called them about it yet).
Mr Gasket is solid copper and OEM is a 4 ply copper gasket: Which gasket is the best exhaust manifold gasket?
Any opinions or ideas is appreciated!
Thank you

I have the Mr Gasket copper gasket. It's a piece of ****. It was hard to get it to stop leaking. I also had to open up the holes on the end because the Evo studs on the ends are bigger.
When I replace my turbo or exhaust manifold I'm installing a new OEM gasket.

How long ago did you purchase this gasket? I just want to know if Mr Gasket might have revised it since you purchased it?
It could be that it was not specifically made for the evo since Mr Gasket does not have a evo part # for this gasket.

I bought mine last year. They haven't re-designed it. It's actually a DSM gasket re-tagged as an Evo gasket. I don't think they plan to do anything about it.

I usually stick to OEM gaskets wherever possible. They have been properly designed and tested. The aftermarket parts may have been as well but you know the OEM one has.
