Another funny noise thread.

Everytime I shut the car off I get a funny noise coming from the engine bay. Sounds like thrrrrrr, if you can sound that out. It only happens after the engine is shut off. Any ideas.

Definitely have to elaborate on that one.. There are some motors and solenoids that continue to run or move for a short period of time after shutting off the engine. I noticed that the car retains power for about 15 seconds after shutting off the engine and removing the key. (noticed it because my S-AFC doesnt power down immediately when I shut the car off)

I'm not sure but it may be the turbo coming to a stop after the engine has stoped.

I think I know what your talking about, its the big fan sitting in front of the radiator. If you stand in front of the car(while its running) you can hear it turn on and off at different intervals, your just turning the car off while its spinning and it makes that noise while its turning off.

I dont think its the fan. Maybe the turbo. I'll record it with my digicam. Someone else must have noticed something. By the way my car is stock. Thanks for the help so far.

I know what you are talking about. It is the IAC valve (Idle air control) resetting itsef everytime you turn off the car. it sounds almost like a fast clicking sound. nothing to worry about.
