Cutting out
Cutting out
Hello Everyone,
This issue has only happened twice within the last 1-2 months.
Here is a break down of my car so you can get an idea.
2003 GSR
103k miles
Stock turbo.
Turbo Back Exhaust (no cat)
GrimmSpeed MBC
Walbro 255
K&N Panel Filter
Road Tuned to 25psi
I've had the car tuned for about 5 months now and this just started happening. New spark plugs were put in at 90k miles (is it due for new ones?
Problem:
In 4th or 5th gear, going to pass someone... the car feels like it hits a wall for a second, kind of like the car is blowing out the spark... It's a really quick miss fire, then it continues on. Not even at full boost, it will probably be at about 15-18psi when this will happen.
Please advise,
Thank you.

My car does this on a colder day. Most likely from not lowering my boost to compensate. (As ambient temp decreases your boost will increase) For the heck of it I'd lower the boost with the MBC if you are getting below freezing where you live. Just to see if it makes a difference. I'm not sure what boost gauge you are using so who knows how accurate it is. Other people will probably tell you to change plugs too.
i'd try the spark plugs. if that's not it, you could be knocking, the car pulls timing, then when the knock goes away, the car starts moving again.
also, you do not have a "GSR" there are no GSR EVO 8's in the united states. EVO 8's are just EVO 8's. the car's actually aren't even numbered here. you've got an Evolution. in subsequent years when the other models were released, there was the regular Evolution, Evolution RS, and Evolution MR. also, the JDM GSR is actually more closely related to our MR.

I'll also lower the boost to 15 psi or so.
Thanks for the tip too.
