coilpack or something else?

long story short... or as short as i can while still including all details.

other day on the way to work went to pass a slow truck. in 4th boosted to maybe 10 psi around 4k rpm and motor felt like it was experiencing spark blowout maybe a tad more violent along the lines of boost cut. i thought no big deal i just changed the plugs and prob didnt gap them tight enough. bought a new set last night and gapped them down to around .021 where i had them before when getting the car tuned. ran it through 1st 2nd 3rd and let out in 4th... i only took it to around 5k in each gear except 4th. soon as i hit 4th i let out. no misfire or boost cut feeling issue. few miles down the road a car in front of me turns off so i give it another test this time i was in 3rd and was going to do a full pull. at 2500 went wot and at 4k got the misfire or whatever it is.

things i know it should def not be are plugs (changed and gapped yesterday) plug wires ( changed within the last 5 months dont remember exactly when but i do still have the receipt somewhere), tune done by reputable tuner (see signature) and has been fine up until now car was tuned in april. car is tuned on ecuflash at 26 psi and im running ngk br8es plugs.

im leaning towards a bad coil but dont see why it would do it only in a higher gear like a 3rd gear pull and up but not do it with a 1-2-3 pull. what do you think? coils or is it something else. by the way im throwing no codes.

It definitely sounds like its your coil packs. Did you fell it loose power at wot, did you have to let off the gas then floor it again?

I had the same issues for a long time. What plugs wires are you running? If they are after market then I would get some new oem ones. If that doesn't fix it then it's prob one of the coils. If you have a friend with an Evo switch out wires and coils one at a time to troubleshoot it

My car got a little better with the oem wires and then I changed the coils. The car has been running great for the last 4-5 years
