khasal did you get this resolved?

Anyone else using the Walbro E85 compatible pump?

The E85 version is considerably longer in overall length than the standard Walbro 400. Has anyone installed one and what modifications did you have to do to the fuel pump/pump hanger?

i bought 2 walbro E85 450 pumps to put in my double pumper. the socks that came with the pumps are pretty damn big. i am in the proses of setting them up in my DP'er setup now. fitting the 2 big socks is a challenge. anyways i called walbro and spoke to ''the head engineer'' for there after market FP program. i asked if this sock was sized for this pump OR could i use the same sock that the W255 comes with. which is much smaller but hooks up the same. the response i got was Walbro makes about 30 different sock sizes that will fit both the 255 pump and E85 450 pump and that any of these socks can be used without starving the bigger 450 pump. the reason for multible sock sizes is just to help fit each customers needs. they all will flow the same and again will not effect or starve the 450 pump.

Good news about the socks. When I spoke to the VP there about a year ago, he felt comfortable saying that the long Evo factory shaped sock (not the stock length one) would be fine, but he didn't go so far as to say any sock would work.

I am going to order the 125-142. Which is the one I believe your speaking of to use. It's the same as the 255 sock just longer.

Doesn't the large sock it comes with bottom out in the tank and restrict flow?

No. There actually designed so that if it bottoms out there is an opening for fuel to enter.

So approximately what power levels could a single walbro 400 pump support on E85?

Depends on supporting mods and the condition of the fuel filter in the pump carrier. With -6 AN supply hose, a good quality wiring job, and a non-clogged filter, I think 550 whp is for sure attainable. There are some people saying that they have reached ~600 whp. The flow rate data on the pump indicate that this is possible if boost levels aren't high, but an unknown is how much flow restriction there is in the factory pump carrier.

I'm shooting for 650hp on e85 if I ever get this car running. Prob 35psi on an HTA3582r on a 2.4LR. English is my tuner and they say they've never maxed out a walboro 416lph e85 pump

That's good to know. Now I just have to wrap my head around all this sock, barb and clamp stuff to make sure I do this right when the day comes lol

MrFred,
can you explain what do u mean by "fuel filter in the pump carrier" ? are you referring to the sock type filter provided with the pump or an additional inline filter you're putting?

Also, I was under the impression that the stock wiring can do the job, is a rewire necessary?
Thanks in advance!
