Exedy Triple - Have You Seen This Before?
Exedy changed the design to lower the cost of rebuild. This way they can make a common disc and not only an EVO specific one. This issue has been seen in other gear driven clutches as well so the quartermaster is not the end all to this design and has seen similar hub and spline failures.
The only redesign I am aware of that Exedy has done is to convert the hub to use a standard disc. This was done purely to save Exedy money as I don't think the cost of a rebuild really went down at all to the end user. This is shown pretty well here:

Although from what I have read is that the new hub design is still possible to cause issues with hub wear and input shaft deterioration. Greg if your looking for any parts let me know!

Meanwhile if buschur gets the auto working correctly I will be switching to that.
Hi guys. Sorry I have not chimed in for a while. Right now I do have the latest rendition of the Exedy triple in the car. But I just redid a bunch of things on the car and haven't driven it yet, and actually won't drive it until spring time. So unfortunately I have no reports regarding its performance.

I'm really hoping it works out.
Yes, there were some changes. I took pictures and will post them when I can. I'm out of the USA right now so I can't do it until I get back.

I'm also running the latest rendition, It seems to be working fine but I'm still having disengagement problems. I've removed the clutch pill, installed a one piece clutch line, and adjusted my clutch pedal. Next is to replace the slave cylinder. It drives great and has no chatter at all, which will make all the parts last longer. I think that's what was killing the boss hubs before. I only have about 100 miles on it at and no track passes. The clutch disengages great when ripping on the car but if you try to shift slow it's not the best. I need to give Evan another call and see what he recommends. They just need to ditch the pull style triple and switch them to a hydro throw out bearing. They know the evo's have a weak slave cylinder and haven't done anything to fix it.
no issues with mine. i just looked at it yesturday. around 20 track passes and major street abuse (around 8000 miles). power never exceeded 570tq though.
i wonder if i have the new one or the old design. i can take pics if anyones interested when i get some free time.

That's not 100% correct. The one I got to test has the old style discs with updated floaters. I forgot to take pics before the install but now both floaters have metal springs like the twin disc to help with disengagement.
I hate these overpriced Pieces of poop. They don't last past 30K, just search and how many "Almost new" clutches are being sold, always Exedy. I don't trust them I prefer a heavy pressure plate and be done with it.
older style below tom they just sit on the input shaft newer discs have a hub they ride on mine after 1100 miles
I got close to 60k on my XTSS with 460 WHP. The amount if money on labr alone is enough to make you stick with a proper clutch, do many Exedy failures its symptomatic of a poor design that yes is very smooth but doesn't last.

Is this the new or old design? I'm guessing old since its about a year or so old now.
I replaced the center with a new one and got new discs, and has held up with 500miles and launching on slicks multiple times now. Fingers crossed!
In my opinion, I feel that if exedy knows the last design didn't work too well, they should give whomever had the first design a hefty discount on the new parts or clutch if we send in our old one.
