well i found out what happen to my clutch. I spoke to a exedy rep and sent him the pics the disks i had in mine where the older style the kind that did not use the splined hub (the vendor i bought my rebuild disks from never told me ) the material that sits on the input shaft is softer and will fail sooner or later if you can dont down shift it will prolong the life of the disks alittle if you have the older style disks like mine replace them now so you dont end up on the side of the road.
When they released the new discs, did they give it a new part number? If so, what's the new part number?
Thanks,
-Bink
No he dident mention a change in part numbers I don't think there is because I just bought my disks last year and I compared the numbers to Stm's and they were the same that's who I ordered my rebuild kit from them or map will take care of you do you think you have the older version ?

When I pulled my engine last summer, all the discs looked great. I had a new disc to compare the used ones to, there was very little difference.
So far so good
Knock on wood, of course!-Bink
Don't know if I have the older version or not. Haven't had any issues like this. I probably have <5,000 miles on my Exedy Twin HD at this point.

sorry to bump an old thread but I was wondering how is everyone doing with their twin/triple exedy clutches??
I have the QM race 8leg clutch and I am looking to change it. I drive the car a lot in the streets (probably 200miles/week), about 8-10 1/4 runs/year and maybe few high way pulls (mostly 3rd to 5th with some occasional 2nd-5th gear pulls) I would say a total of 5 high pulls every month.
car used to be at 585awhp/470awtq on a dynojet (forged 2.0, BW 366sx turbo, made a little more with 35shot). now I changed my setup completely. I went to a forged 2.4L 4g64 (manley pistons/billet rods/ billet crank)with 6766 turbo 1.15afr. the car starts spooling at 2800RPM and I think it will hit full boost at around 4800RPM (I didnt test it yet since I am still breaking in the new engine) the clutch is holding great but its just too graby and hard to launch. I feel like I am going to hurt my transmission or diff when launching the car because it chatters a lot and vibrates the whole car. also when shifting normally it grabs hard unless I am really careful.
I dont know if I should start my own thread or if its ok to post here, but any help would be appreciated.
I am guessing with my new bigger turbo and new build I will be around 750awhp/600awtq according to my builder?? but he is not sure. keep in mind I will be spraying a 50shot on top
Im I looking at the right clutch?? I would love to get the twin disc HD ( I drove my brother's car and LOVE IT. thats why I decided I am changing mine.)
Thanks

i am putting just a 6466 with .82A/R on a 2.4LR currently and i will be shocked if it spools as well as that.
I am surprised too. but I can take a vid to show it if you would like. I understand going from a 2.0 to a 2.4 will help the spool but couldn't believe how fast this thing start spooling. is it possible that this means there is a problem maybe???
i noticed looking around that the twin has the splines on the disks and the tipple has the hub is that correct? i will have to make sure my twin disk are ok but sounds like they are not the problem at all only the triples
I think I have read some problems with the twin disc too. I really need to make my mind soon. will the HD twin be ok for me? or do I have to get a triple disc to hold the power? is there a SD triple and HD? I need to look all this up now and see whats the TQ ratings on each.

I only have a part # for a triple HD although you could possibly bolt the SD disc in place of the HD disc although I do not know why you would want to
will I be ok with the HD twin disc?? or should I go with a triple???
I dont want an SD triple. I would def get the HD. but I am looking to have something that is nice to drive and not an on-off clutch. I drove an exedy triple on an STi and it feels ok. I wasnt used to it so I had a little hard time the first few stops but then kinda got used to it. believe it or not, I drove it better than I drive my car now with my QM 8leg clutch!!! which I had for almost a year now!! that car I only drove it once!!!!!!! haha.
my brother has the exedy HD twin disc which I LOVE!! drives GREAT! if the triple drive as nice as the twin then I will def get it. thanks
