In my opinion, I feel that if exedy knows the last design didn't work too well, they should give whomever had the first design a hefty discount on the new parts or clutch if we send in our old one.

That's the new style with the boss hubs. They also changed the floaters to help keep the hubs from getting like that first pic.

Ok thank you for clearing that up. I was confused as I got this clutch used with the hub pictured first, and I ordered a new hub (pictures second).

Fingers crossed I don't have any problems!!!

Directly from Exedy to be honest with you. But the rebuild parts most warehouses have are the latest im sure. I am a Exedy dealer also.

============================

am i understanding this right? is this the difference from the old and new:

the old center piece in that guys hand has a chip/notch off the end of each tooth line?

and the new ones are fully solid with no chip at the end?

^ that's me sounding like an idiot.

Guys,

I have tried to find the pics I took of this latest design, but have since switched phones and can't find them.

The latest fix for this problem has nothing to do with the center hub. That's because they believe the issue isn't with the hub, but with what the top plate is doing when the clutch is depressed. If you notice in most of the photos its the top part of the hub that is worn/damaged.

So, what they have done is put these spacers between the plates that keep them even spaced, especially when the clutch is fully depressed. I was told that this spacer is similar to that which comes on the Exedy Twins, but I don't know for sure because I've not looked at one.

So, at this point I have no idea if this will fix the problem or not, but I told them I will get mine running and driving as soon as things thaw out here in Michigan and report back to them my findings after a few thousand miles of driving.

I do believe that this will result in less chatter though we didn't talk about it. But I do know that they believe that it's that chatter, specifically from the top plate/disk combo, that is causing the damage we are seeing. Only time and some miles will tell us if their theory is correct.

There's no chatter with the new floaters! I have about 1000 miles on them and they seem fine. It does seem to drag if i go up my driveway slow. I either have to double clutch it to keep from hitting my garage door or rip it out of gear.

You're correct.

Thanks guys. I think i might call exedy and see about getting the new parts. my clutch is fine, but its probably best to get the revised parts before something does go wrong.

teribble, you can shift the same quality with the new parts right? there is no high RPM lockout or anything funky occurring right?

I haven't tried to do any no-lift high RPM shifts yet. Its a little scary on the street with 700HP+. I'm waiting for the next track day to put it to the test. I'll try to do some this weekend on a back road and get back to you.

This would be good to know because I'm curious about this myself. Get out on some back road early in the morning and have some fun, dang it!

I don't get any lockout on 8900 rpm shifts but that's lifting on them. I don't think I'll have a problem but I'm also on a stock trans. lol
