Dont know if it was mentioned but does the 2.0 4g63 head bolt up to the 64 block with no work done to the head? On Buschurs site it says combustion chambers need to be worked to get it to work properly.

I'm not sure about that. I called them and they said they cant tell their secrets.

My head bolted right up no problem. I did clean up the combustion chamber and port/polish my head. Nothing major to the combustion chamber though.

The answer is yes, and it will work just fine. The 4G63 head has smaller combustion chambers because of the smaller bore compared to the 4G64, but it works without issue. Buschur enlarges the combustion chamber to match bore size. To me, the only real change is that by enlarging the combustion chamber it will drop compression - so really you just need to plan what it is you're shooting for. There's a Kia/Hyundai motor (G4JS) that is a 2.4 almost identical to the 4G64 and it has the larger combustion chambers in the cylinder head. It's a perfect match for much cheaper if you wanted to use that, but the issue is that you have to use the entire Hyundai top end of the engine including their water pipe.

I wonder if G4JS Cam gears would work on an EVO. I am going to look into that.

So ive been having oil issues with my 2.4 lr.
Do i need the 4g64 front case or the 4g63 front case?
I ask this because although they are very similar, they have their few differences.

Ok. Thats what i have, but it seems to be leaking oil from underneath the lower timing cover.

I had to plug the hole on the back, drivers side of the block alrdy, so its not that

What head gaskets are you guys running and what head studs? I have heard of people having issues with the regular arp studs.

So there's no starter clearance issues with the stock Evo VIII manifold/turbo if you use the 4G63 starter? I've read several places a manifold spacer is needed to keep the turbo from hitting the starter, but I believe those folks are using the 4G64 starter...

I've heard that with using an Evo 8 turbo on a SOHC 4G64, however I thought it wasn't an issue on a DOHC head 4G64. Either way spacers aren't expensive

I gotcha, so the folks who needed spacers were trying to turbo a SOHC 4G64, the starter wasn't the culprit it was the head. DOHC heads with Evo VIII manifolds don't interfere with either the 63 or 64 starter then?
