How to build a 4G64 for an EVO 8/9
I'll let it go after this post but I didn't spend a dime on maintenance on either of my 335is over the last 6 years. Last one was pretty highly modified and did 446HP/480TQ. Lets see, tranny broke 2 weeks after getting the EVO, TC broke first night at the drag strip and I blew an engine. Engine was more my fault but regardless. EVO has been a money pit for sure.
OK so..... Here is what I'm doing. After talking to everyone from MAP to English and DB and AMS, I've decided to go with the following. Block and crank are at the machine shop now:
4G64 block: Bored .020, honed, decked, line bored, crank balanced and polished
no orings
no squirters
87mm cometic HG
1400HD Weisco Pistons
Map Ultimate Duty Rods
ARP main studs
L19 Head Studs
ACL Race bearings
03 outlander water pump
new oil pump
OEM balance shaft delete
Head was also shaved, it warped after I blew the head gasket

Or did you mean price point for the motor? I paid $1900 for parts, $475 for block and crank, $600 at the machine shop, + labor. Prob $3800 all together with new oil and waterpump
But I also sold my 2.0 block for $800 and have my 4G63 crank for sale for $250 so hopefully ill recoup $1050 and only spend $2750 on the whole new setup with labor. Not too bad I guess.
For your evo9 you won't have to trim it, it only applies to the evo8 due to the alternator bracket. The pulley will potentially rub the timing cover a little as it sits in a touch. On mine I just shaved the cover a touch.
