Bushur Racing 2.3L short block

I just have a quick question. I currently have an AMS 2.3L stroker with stock heads in my evo ix mr. Just learned that my motor has crank walk. Now my main question is would a BR 2.3L 4g63 short block bolt right into my evo ix mr stock head without any mod to it?

From your other thread, are you sure you have crank walk? Can you post a video of it moving back and forth?

It will work, depending on the block, you will have to drill the oil port in the back of the block for the MIVEC oil feed line. If you tell buschur it is for an evo 9, he should know what to do.

Unfortunately, I don't have a video of the crank walk. But the shop's mechanic is certain that it is crank walk due to .25 inch free play. It hasn't destroyed the crank sensor, but they are not even going to touch the car unless a new short block is in the car. So at this moment, I am looking at A Bushur short block. I'll make sure to let them know that it is for an evo ix.

If the crank has 0.25" end play then I don't see how it would not damage the crank sensor. If you look at the picture below the trigger wheel spins between the gap in this sensor.

I still dont trust that information. You should go see it for yourself and get a video of it. A quarter inch of crank walk will destroy the sensor and there will be tons of metal in the oil.

Just because you are burning oil does not mean you have crank walk. That could be larger ring gaps (due to a built motor) and/or leaking valve seals.

I highly recommend you DO NOT buy a short block based on this information. You are wasting a lot of money.

Bring the car somewhere else if they are not wanting to touch the car without a new engine installed. To me that is bullshi*.

Just trying to help you out before you fork over 5k for a new motor and parts for no reason.

Yeah, this shop is well known for Evo's and Gtr's. Their reputation is undisputed. Has the fastest evo in California.

Thank you for your input. I'm actually going to head over to the shop and have them show me the free play before I do anything else. They are a very well known evo and gtr's tunning shop here in the Bay Area. So I have full confidence in them. But I would still like to see it for myself before I fork out the funds for a new short block, as you recommended. Thank you again. I'll update you guys on what I find out.

Also, just show up and request to see it. I would not call ahead.

Please keep up posted and post a video of it when you go. I am curious to see this magical .25" of walk without damaging anything.

Also, while you are there, have them drain the oil and check for metal flakes. Thats another sign of bearing material in the oil. They could also mean .025mm of walk. This is within spec. The spec is 0.05-0.25mm. Need clarification of this and have them use a dial indicator.

If they haven't drained the oil yet to confirm their analysis, then I don't know what to say....
